When did you first leave house after caesarean?

I had my second baby on Friday and have been at home since Saturday. Its definitely less restful with a toddler! Starting to get cabin fever though and I'm wondering if I'd be ok just going to the local coffee shop with husband and children any time soon - two minute drive away?

It depends on how you feel - if you feel up to it just go. Just don't drive yet. I had a c-section (twins) on a Monday, left hospital on the Friday and went out on the Monday for lunch (so 1 week after c section).

About 4 days old so been home 2 days. I just couldn't sit insjde anymore. So helped take DD1 to school and went out for breakfast with DH.

I went out the day after I got home...it was my birthday though so went for family meal.
I was walking to coffee shop within two weeks (as couldn’t drive due to section)

Go for what feels comfortable for you and in the understanding you come home if you struggle

Went to MILs for tea 2 days after getting home so 4 days after birth and then went out for lunch 1 week after birth. Was fine just needed to take it slowly.

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 03/04/2019 16:27

I was out in a couple of days, but walking - getting in and out of the car was tricky, and it was easier to amble along behind the pram.

ThePurpleGirl · 03/04/2019 16:27

I agree - if you feel up to it, go for it.
I had DS by C- Section on a Thursday afternoon, home by the Friday afternoon, and went to Waitrose cafe on the Sunday while DH and DD did the shopping. Then I did the pre-school run on the Monday morning (because I wanted to show off DS Grin). I think I was making up for the fact DD and I were in hospital for almost a month and then encouraged to stay home (premature).

I had to go to the hospital for the five day check with the midwife so had no choice but to leave the house. It felt like an extremely long walk from the car to the consulting room though....

It’s completely dependent on how you feel. I was up able to go out by day 5 if it didn’t involve much walking and DH avoided the pot holes in the road. It’s good to be up and about but if you’re in pain make sure you rest

AlunWynsKnee · 03/04/2019 21:51

C/S on the Tuesday and went out for lunch on the Saturday.

Within 3 days to go and registered lo birth

Creatureofthenight · 04/04/2019 12:40

Depends how you feel. I didn’t leave the house for 2 weeks, felt like I’d been in a car crash or something. If you fancy a trip out go for it, just take it easy.

Roomba · 04/04/2019 12:48

I had c sections with both DC.

First time - DS was 3 weeks old. I'd only been home from hospital for five days and I had to go to a non maternity related doctor's appointment. Went straight there and back though and didn't venture out again for another week or so (felt like shit and was winter).

Second time, I popped to the corner shop for bread the evening we got home from hospital, so DS was 2 days old. Went to the park with DS1 a couple of days later and was fine with regular sit downs. ELCS is so, so much better than EMCS for recovery time ime!

DearTeddyRobinson · 04/04/2019 12:49

As per PPs, see how you feel. With DC1, it was snowing so I didn't leave the house till he was 12 days old. With DC2, well I had DC1 to entertain so we were out and about the day after we came home from hospital (DC2 was 4 days old). It was fine, I was just a bit slow. Drove after 2/3 weeks no problem.

IdblowJonSnow · 04/04/2019 12:50

When you feel ready. About a week for me I think.

Dalesgirl16 · 04/04/2019 16:16

Thanks everyone. We went to the local garden Centre five minutes from my house just to get out somewhere quiet with the children. I just sat in the cafe with the baby. I have a bit of a tummy ache now and am resting but so glad to get out.
