DS loves nursery......but now bored at home?!

Ds is 10m and has been in nursery 2 days a week while i work and he is LOVING it. Gets so excited when he sees the building, launches himself at the staff member at the door and tries to get in. However he seems to be so bored at home now, no other little people to integrate with - what can i do? Any popular toys for this age? Hes outgrown his jumperoo but does push his walker around for a while happily. I already take him swimming and to a music group once a week so cant afford much more in the way of classes. We get out of the house as much as possible which he enjoys but sometimes we do need to be home.

Look for a toddler group in a local church. You normal pay a donation and get a cuppa and a biscuit. When the weather gets nicer go to the park and other places where children go. At our local swimming pool it’s only £3 for us to go for a swim at the toy session and use the soft play. Definitely look at sessions by local council run leisure they are much cheaper.

Hes got a treasure basket which we rotate round so it has different things in but he's had that a while now and it seems to have lost appeal. He loves books, we do at least an hour of reading in the morning and same in the afternoon. Will look into some cars and wooden animals though thank you @wherestheevidence

@Jackshouse wow that's incredible value for swimming! Will look into council bits and church groups, thank you. I know they do a sing a long session but he already does a music class. I'd take him to soft play but all the ones around here are unpleasant to say the least

song bag...put toys that remind you of a certain song in the bag he gets to pick one out and then you sing the song.

posting games/pots to put things in and out of.

Physical toys like ride ons

park trips.

water play sitting in the sink.

tunnel to crawl through (can just be a cardboard box)

vehicles and road tape/mat

An hour of books is loads for such a young baby! At that age mine loved v-tech light up (crap)toys, those peg jigsaws (to chew on mainly), wooden blocks, stacking cups (the cheap ikea ones were a hit), musical instruments, lamaze toys, cars. It's easier when the weather is better.

Northernbeachbum · 03/04/2019 12:22

He loves the books, sits there and hands me the next one and gets cross when we're done Confused

Thank you lots of ideas to try out. Will see what i can find to add to his toy collection. He has no interest in lamaze toys anymore, used to love them.

You are making a rod for your back if you feel he needs you to entertain him all the time. A safe place where you can keep an eye and a few bits and bobs he can put inside each other and make a noise with. He will soon learn to amuse himself.

Northernbeachbum · 03/04/2019 12:32

He is perfectly capable of amusing himself but i am encouraging his love of books i do admit. He will play alone for a fair while but then comes to me with a very distinctive "I'm bored" grumble. I rotate the toys around but he doesn't really have that many so its quite hard to do that

Its more for the days when we need to be in so jobs can get done that i need help with. Happy to get him a few more toys just been a bit unsure as to what
