OMG 9 year old and sock drama!

I’ve got to keep lighthearted about this or it would drive me nuts!

What is it with young kids and socks? DS1 went through a bit of a fussy stage but DS2 is a whole other level!

Normal ankle socks are now no longer tolerated, they go too far up his leg. It’s got to be trainer socks. But now some of them are no good because they’ve gone a bit bobbly in the wash. Bought him some new ones, size 4-8 (he’s a size 8). But nope, they are too big, they have to finish just below his ankle bone or they are just wrong. I have told him to stop being so fussy, socks are socks. And all socks have that seam across the toes, nothing I can do about that so deal with it.

The amount of socks I’ve bought in the last 2 years that have been rejected. Argh!

Thanks for letting me rant, I feel a bit better now!

T-shirts and pants with labels in are DS nightmare. He genuinely cannot cope. Luckily primark and next seem to be doing away with labels altogether, so hopefully others will follow suit. Sending you garment related drama solidarity.

I’m like this and I’m an adult. The feeling of wrong clothes makes me want to claw my skin off.

Sorry. I feel his pain.

Would he wear them inside out? That helps me with the toe seam problem. (As an adult. As a child I wouldn't even try it because inside-out was the wrong way to wear clothes - but worth suggesting if he might!)

My ds is like this with Jumpers. He has very particular criteria which I just can't follow. Also everytime he has his haircut, the t shirts are immediately rejected after for hurting him irrespective of how many times I wash them. He just hates having his haircut. Luckily I have a lot of hand me downs or would be really annoyed at the waste of good clothes.

One of mine will only wear second hand or hand me down clothes because new ones are 'too stiff'.

Saves a fortune, but nightmare when something he needs can't be found second hand!
