Fold out changing mat on the floor. As you have more dc you become able to do it sat on loo seat /dc on your knee. Occasionally results in baby banging head on loo wall but hey ho!!

Doghorsechicken · 20/03/2019 16:19

I can lay my pram flat so I just put the changing mat underneath and change him there.

I've actually not had this problem yet but I usually make sure i go somewhere with baby change. If not then go somewhere nearby - most places won't mind if you pop in to change your baby.

I find the NCT Baby change app helpful. It relies on users to put in locations of baby change facilities and is limited on the amount of information that can be input. But does help if I'm not sure where might have facilities.

I have 3 DC and this has never been an issue. I had a folding changing mat which lived in the nappy bag and I would literally change wherever. Although I'm not one of those awful people who would change a nappy on a cafe/restaurant table, toilet floor usually worked just fine. Unless you have mobility issues which prevent you from kneeling on a floor (which I do now but didn't then...) then I struggle to see the issue.

Some times i can't even leave the house

Unless there is a disability involved somewhere along the line, I'm not sure why it would be so problematic?

There are changing facilities in many toilets and if not a changing mat and the floor.

Coffee shops, department stores, m&s, library, Greggs, shopping centres. They're everywhere, the only trouble I find is trying to find the least dirty/stinky!

NerrSnerr · 20/03/2019 16:55

If there isn't a changing table can you improvise? Use a fold up mat? What places are you visiting that there aren't changing facilities? Even in our village we can use the library and community centre.

Wallsbangers · 20/03/2019 17:44

Fold up changing mat for these occasions. I find the worst places are hipster artisan coffee shops where it's £4.50 for a tiny flat white and no baby change. We've done the odd nappy change in the car boot or in the pram before now.

Newyearnewunicorn · 20/03/2019 17:51

I either change nappies in the pushchair, obviously not in a shop or cafe or more frequently lay ds down in the car boot. The folding plastic changing mats are ok but washable incontinence pads are better as if a wee happens they soak it up and it doesn’t go in car boot or on pushchair.

Being a single dad I had this problem most changing tables are in the woman’s toilets there is a few in the disabled toilets which you can use if you need a key you can ask the cleaners/owners and they’d let you in.

NuffSaidSam · 20/03/2019 20:09

Just bring changing bag with mat with you and change in the loo/in boot of car/in buggy/on the floor if somewhere appropriate.

PhilomenaButterfly · 20/03/2019 20:17

I never really went anywhere when DS2 was in nappies. We're lucky to have Sainsbury's on our doorstep.

babydreamer1 · 20/03/2019 21:11

That's a bit dramatic. Just do it in the car, pram, on a seat, on the floor or sit in the loo and do it on your knee!
I've never seen an accessible/disabled toilet without a pull down changing table in, were you not looking in them?
Unless it's poo you can leave it for a few hours in anyway. No need to make yourself housebound!

Justdontknow5 · 21/03/2019 08:09

I just change my son on my knee always have done so much easier for me.

Newyearsameoldshit · 21/03/2019 18:28

Perfect the lap change for when they are little (with foldable change mat/puppy pad under baby to save your trousers), then move to pull ups when they can stand well and change standing up.
