Is this enough for 10yo birthday?

My DD turns 10 on Saturday. She only had 3 things on her birthday list which we have managed to buy. We've got her

iPhone 6 - bought 2nd hand for £110
Punch bag
Boxing gloves
1kg bar chocolate
Glow in the dark unicorn bedding
Unicorn light box
Glam make up bag

It feels really stingy compared to previous years but she has loads of bath bombs etc left over from Christmas and I don't want to buy any more chocolate/sweets!

Does this sound stingy?

PS Yes to decorating the living room! I go all out!

PhilomenaButterfly · 20/03/2019 14:07

For DD's 10th she got one toy and one outfit.

Punch bag and gloves were from amazon.

She doesn't do any boxing but is obsessed with rock films so had been asking for a kids punch bag and boxing gloves for ages!

Thanks cricketmum I'll have a look.

IncrediblySadToo · 20/03/2019 14:22

It sounds lovely.

I usually include books, because I buy them anyway, but it gives me a good opportunity to buy some they wouldn’t necessarily choose themselves, but I think they’ll enjoy if they try them. But snesky 🤣 and a new family game - also a bit sneaky as it’s as much for me as them 🤣

Decorating the lounge or whatever would definitely be nice too. Just spending time together 😊

Have you come across cake fountains? They are cheap from a big supermarket and are like mini fireworks which you can put on the cake. Although my top tip is to put them on something separate next to the main cake as they tend to drop quite a bit of ash. Might be something different if you've not done them before.

cricketmum84 · 20/03/2019 19:38

Ooh no I've never seen them before! Will have a google!

I've bought some gel food colouring and going to attempt a 6 layered rainbow cake... I must be flipping mad 😂😂😂 I also found some tiny unicorn sugar decorations online that I will pop on top of the buttercream.

We live a mile away from a verrry nice ice cream parlour with a small farm so planning a trip there Saturday after our orchestra practice and music lessons!

Agree with those who have said it's more about what you do than what you buy.

Decorations, balloons, special breakfast all that stuff makes memories more than a pile of stuff.

If you want to make her feel special and good about herself maybe tell her about the day she was born and how excited you were and how cute she was and how much you love her etc. Get the baby pictures out! I always enjoyed that story on my birthday!

cricketmum84 · 20/03/2019 20:27

Oh that's a lovely idea :)

Wow, well done, cake looks delish OP. But now I want rainbow cake for breakfast 😋.

How did it all go?

cricketmum84 · 24/03/2019 08:21

We had a lovely day thanks, she loved her presents and we had a great time visiting the llamas at the ice cream parlour.

She was very impressed with the cake too!

It sounds like alot..
I wouldn't buy a 10 year old a phone or a makeup bag.

DeadWife · 24/03/2019 08:29

I bet she was Smile,

Glad your DD had a happy day.
