Hi everyone,

My son has decided he doesn't like porridge anymore and I'm not sure what's best to give him.

He will eat crumpets and toast but I know crumpets especially aren't very healthy and have lots of salt

He usually has blueberries, raspberries and strawberries with his porridge and he's still eating those but need something more substantial to

Thank you

Eggs are a great breakfast. Scrambled, dippy, omelette all popular here.

Toast is fine, go for brown with something nutritious on top, peanut butter or houmous or a mashed banana or cheese.

Weetabix.

I find peanut sandwiches are less messy than peanut butter on toast.

I forgot about eggs, he loves them so that'll be good.

He loves peanut to so will give him that in toast or sandwich to

These porridge fingerSavoury muffin like cheese and broccoli?

Wheatabix is a firm favourite in this household. Along with omelette cut into finger sized pieces for mornings I'm getting ready for work and cherry tomatoes. Natural Greek yoghurt with fruit and brown toast.

I would try different cereals; my DD loved cornflakes at one stage then weetanix and banana. Then we went through a bit of a continental stage of a cheese, ham and fruit picnic.
We’re now back to wholemeal toast which she loves

What about overnight oats with berries instead of porridge? Maybe having it cold might be enough to get him into it again?

I often make these apple and oat muffins from the River Cottage toddler cookbook - you can freeze them and just take one out the night before to defrost. They’re full of healthy stuff:

Pancakes? I make them with oats (20g), one egg and a small banana. Whizz it and then fry in a spritz of oil. Then cover in berries and vanilla yoghurt. Mine think it's a treat yet they think oats are the devil! I win, mwah ha ha!

Not quite so healthy but how about Cheerios without milk. Picking them up keeps them quiet for bloody ages Grin
