Newborn rolling onto side during sleep

Hi all.

My DD is four days old and now sleeping in her crib after initially refusing to sleep anywhere but in our arms. However, I have noticed that she will roll onto her side during sleep. I always put her down on her back but she seems to like sleeping on her side. I'm terrified that this dangerous but if I roll her onto back again she wakes, and often rolls back onto her side again anyway.

Should I just let her sleep on her side? 😩

My newborn did this from day 2 or 3! Can't remember what I did about it to be honest. I think she just stopped doing it..... Those first few weeks of nights are a blur Confused

Could you use a purpose made wedge pillow thing under the mattress on the side she rolls onto?

I was told, by HV I think, that it’s fine if you are putting them down on their back and they roll themselves, just not to put them down on their side. My LO did the same!

DC2 is 9.5 months now, he has slept on his side so much he refuses to go down on his back no matter how long I persist or how tired he is. I've tried propping him up so he's more on his back than side, I've tried rolling him while he's asleep, I've tried feeding him on his back with me in an awkward position, nothing changes it.

He now rolls onto his front occasionally and then wakes up and screams to be put back onto his side. After a while he just ends up in bed and we co sleep for most of the night.

My first DC was so much more compliant with SIDS guidelines.
