Prams!

Hi,
I'm currently pregnant and looking at travel systems. I am interested in the joie dlx chrome. It was previously on offer but the price has hiked up loads recently. What are people's thoughts on a second hand one (but new car seat)? Are the different fabric components easy to wash or non-removable?
Thanks in advance!

I’m very pro second hand for everything except car seats and mattress. There are lots of cleaning companies who clean prams and you can often get new inserts for the bassinate.

I have the joie dlx chrome travel system and really like it. The pram is great, lightweight and easy to fold, sturdy, good tyres. My only criticism is the car seat part can be a bit tricky to get in and out, so if you were planning on using the car seat in it alot then that would be worth consideration.

I'd imagine it's quite easy to wash, though we've never really had to. I don't know if you could buy the pram part separately, rather than a whole travel system? Might help save money, but depends on your needs.

@KHR1 I also like the Joie Chrome dlx and saw some good bundle offers online which include it all plus a carseat and extra bits for less than what the pram/carrycot was in the shops.

@Haz1516 can I ask whether you use the dlx on public transport? It's my one concern with it so it would be good to have feedback on this if you have any!

@Jxtina86 When my baby was first born we were living in zone 2 London, and I did found it a bit chunky for that if I'm honest. However, if it was just getting the occasional bus or train at off peak times in a less busy area then you'd probably be alright, especially with the pushchair part rather than carrycot on. it's pretty light to lift and get up steps etc. We live in a rural area now and find it much better for here, but don't really have much public transport to speak of.

They stock it in Mothercare. Even if you buy it elsewhere then it would probably be worth testing it out in store there (if you haven't already). Overall, I've been really happy with it though Smile.

@Haz1516 thank you for replying! I'm in London zone 4 so not as busy on public transport and rarely travel into central, let alone at peak. I tried it out in Mothercare today and really liked the way it handles, plus the big wheels really sold it for me. Both sets of parents live in rural areas so it will definitely come into it's own there I think. Thanks again 😊

Thanks Jxtina86! I was interested based on the fact you could get a base for the car seat so bought a second hand base but didn't buy the pram when it was on offer! I shall shop around for the bundles!
