4 week old-constipated?

Hi everyone.
My DD is 4 weeks old tomorrow and EBF.
She has slept well and wakes up anything between 2-4 hours for feeds but has sometimes been fussy in the evenings and cluster feeding a lot. Loads of wet and dirty nappies.

However, since yesterday she has been completely different. Crying all day/only settling when on me or feeding. She is still feeding really well though. Yesterday it hit about 7pm and she completely settled again. Just waking up 2-4 hourly for feeds/nappy change all night until about 9am this morning. Since then she's been so unsettled again. It's not a high pitched cry, just a loud, angry cry.

She is settling again now, but I've just realised she's not had a dirty nappy since the early hours of this morning. Is that normal? The Poo was completely normal and she has had loads of wet nappies today.
Also, her temp is normal.

Any ideas?

Any poop yet Danny? Smile

It’s normal for ebf babies to go 2 weeks without pooing as there is little wasted. They aren’t constipated, don’t worry. As long as there were no concerns over weight gain or anything.

Thanks both. We had an explosive one in the middle of the night 😂.
Good to know it's normal that she can go a bit longer though.

Completely normal. My HV told me not to even think twice about it until you get to 10 days.

DD basically only pooed once a week until she started solids, breastfed babies are getting exactly what they need in both nutrition and volume, so there is very little waste to become poo. She won't be constipated, formula can cause it but that isn't a consideration for you.

Three of my five (all ebf) babies only pooed once a week or even every 10 days. Ebf babies don't get constipated. It's not possible. They do however poo like a thing possessed when it finally happens. Wee monsters!

Thank you all so much.
I didn't know this (I was given so much info about poo in the first few days, then nothing!)
