Two girls then a boy?

Purely out of curiosity.. a friend of mine has two girls and is pregnant with her third. Although she isn't bothered what sex the next one is, neither of us can think of anyone we know who has had two girls then a boy. I've read (can't remember where)that if you have two girls then there's a 70% chance of having another girl. How many of you out there have had two girls and then a boy?

hmmm ...i can't think of many that have had 2 girls then a boy either.......only 2 ladies that come to playgropup (who are sisters) spring to mind.....

interesting.....

Davina McCall - 2girls, then boy.
Melinda Messenger - 2 boys then girl.
Jordan - 2 boys then girl.

There are loads. I take an interest as, I've got 2 dd and often wonder what a third would be.

Only 2 girls then a boy stories. 2 boys then a girl are everywhere

Me, I was thrilled, when I got over the 'what the hell do i do with a boy' thoughts.

FioFioJane · 10/07/2007 19:58

loads of people have
lets face it you have a 50/50 chance of either each time!

WendyWeber · 10/07/2007 20:01

Yes, I did (and then another one, like lou).

I would have loved a 3rd girl and was a bit gobsmacked (esp because I didn't know in advance, it was a section and they had to rummage to get him out and then someone said "it's a girl!.......No it isn't!")

Anyway he is a lovely person (mostly), prob as a result of having 2 big sisters whipping him into shape

Amelily · 10/07/2007 20:04

But do you FioFio? I have read that there is a greater chance of having another girl after two girls than of having another boy after two boys... if you see what I mean. Obviously this isn't a very scientific survey, I'm just curious. I personally know no one who has 2 girls then had a boy and no one I have asked at playgroups etc could come up with any either, although clearly they exist they seem to be in a minority, at least where I live.

miaou has 2 girls and a boy (plus unknown 4th on the way)

kentgirl73 · 10/07/2007 20:11

I have a younger sister and then had a younger brother - 5 years in age difference. One of my friends had 2 girls and then had a boy, so that dampens that myth!

and the family in Peepo

WendyWeber · 10/07/2007 20:13

And so does emkana

(There are others here too but can't think who atm)

emkana · 10/07/2007 22:40

Hello, nice to be mentioned.

But I did already post further down...

rattleskuttle · 10/07/2007 22:47

i had 2 girls, then a boy. there was a 6 year gap before boy 'though.

maybe you need a long gap to get rid of all those female hormones sloshing around. (rattleskuttle talking crap emoticon)

since then i've had another girl, then boy

sighkotika · 11/07/2007 10:20

im the eldest of three children, after me is my sister, then my brother, so it definately does happen :D

sighkotika · 11/07/2007 10:22

and my sister is 19 months younger than me, my brother 17 months younger than her, so im not sure you dio have to 'leave a gap'

sighkotika · 11/07/2007 10:23

sorry, didnt mean that to sound so dismissive lol

NeverTickleASleepingSoupDragon · 11/07/2007 10:30

The "if you have 2 of the same sex you're 80% likely to have a 3rd the same" statistic is because those people who do have a genetic tendency to one sex skew the odds. Your personal odds might be 50/50 (or is it actually 51/49 in favour of boys?) but as a whole, it's not IYSWIM. You can prove anything with statistics

You'd get a better idea of you took a look at your family as a whole - mine is rather boy heavy. However I had 2 boys then a girl and I'm a girl with 2 older brothers...

serenity · 11/07/2007 11:38

My mum had two girls followed by a boy (I'm the eldest). I'm awkward and did it the other way round (2 DSs and then DD)
