Build a little den. Put something down on the floor and give him a tub of sudsy water and sone toys to wash. Have you got any okay doh?

Give him “challenges” to, for example, find ten red items around the house etc.

My 18 month old loves playing with dry pasta - uncooked penne and 5/6 bowls of different shapes and sizes and she’s sorted for 30 minutes moving them from one to the other.

If you have pipe cleaners or maybe uncooked spaghetti - get him to string it through a colander.
Hope you’re feeling better.

You can make playdough really easily, just Google a recipe.

Put him in the bath for waterplay, much less mess. He can give his teddies a bath, put some Duplo in there, tea set, dinosaurs....anything that he wouldn't normally have in the bath so that it's more fun!

Put a selection of random interesting items in a back pack or anything with lots of pockets/zips/compartments and let him spend an hour opening them all. If you don't have a bag you could do boxes, one inside another with a little surprise in each box.

Play fetch in the garden! Throw a ball and let him chase after it and bring it back. Give him a bucket and let him collect leaves/sticks or anything else that's blown in!

Give him a damp cloth or wet wipes and let him wash the windows/shower/kitchen floor. Or dustpan and brush and let him sweep!

Play doctors so you can lie down while he looks after you!
