Seven weeks old

Wakes up at 05:30 for a feed
09:00 feed
12:30-13:00 feed
16:30-17:00 feed
19:30 bath and massage
20:00-20:30 feed
21:00-22:00 falls asleep for the night
02:00 may wake for a feed

alwaystired24seven · 15/03/2019 14:46

@IWouldPreferNotTo I'm impressed a 7 week old has a fixed routine like this! My dd is 9 months and I just want an idea of what everyone else does as currently trying to get her into one as her old one went after jabs

spaniorita · 15/03/2019 14:54

Meh my 10 month old has a rough routine,

7.00 - wake up and milk
8.30 - school run
9.15 - home and breakfast
9.30 - possible nap
12.00 - lunch
1-3.00 - nap
3.00 - school run
4.30 - milk
5.30 - dinner
7.00 - milk and bed

Sips of water from sippy cup between meals. Snacks as and when he's peckish.

Routine is very loose, I'm guided by what he wants / needs rather than what the clock says. If he sleeps in the car earlier or later, longer or shorter we just kind of go with it. I'm not going to stress myself out about it.

11 month old

Wake 6.30/7am ( whenever 6 year old comes in really )

Breakfast 7.30

Nap/ bottle 9.30-10am

Snack 11am

Lunch 12pm

Depending on school run/ activities she has another nap in the afternoon for an hour and a bottle

Dinner 5.30pm

Bed and bottle 7pm

Drinks water through the day, generally when I need to keep her busy or distracted Blush

alwaystired24seven · 15/03/2019 15:23

@GiveMeAllTheGin8 does lo go to sleep all the time at 7? I can't seem to figure out where I'm going round with my dd as she'll be up at 7:30 still awake at gone 10 wide awake?

OP posts:
GiveMeAllTheGin8 · 15/03/2019 15:29

Generally yes she does but I still rock her to sleep even though she’s nearly two stone 🙈
She also still wakes in the night but mostly is quick at settling after I either rub her or put her on me.

Does she nap at all? Do you mean she is awake from 7.30-10pm?

alwaystired24seven · 15/03/2019 15:29

She naps once or twice? When she is tired and 7.30 am gone past 10 pm yeah x

OP posts:
GiveMeAllTheGin8 · 15/03/2019 15:34

What time are her naps? And how long? Maybe the second nap is a bit late in the day?

alwaystired24seven · 15/03/2019 15:35

Her nap was this morning then at about 2ish? So shall I stop there with them and see if she goes bed earlier ?x

OP posts:
GiveMeAllTheGin8 · 15/03/2019 15:40

I’m not sure, my lo sometimes naps 2.30/3.30 but still go to bed at 7pm

My first would nap for two hours in the afternoon but always got her up by 3pm and she went to bed at 8pm.

If she’s waking at 7.30am maybe try just one lunchtime nap then bed at 7.30pm?

Is she active? Mine is nearly walking so is tiring herself out fairly quickly

IWouldPreferNotTo · 15/03/2019 15:43

He's been a textbook baby in so many regards. We had him on a pretty decent schedule by week three and just focus on consistency. There have been nights when he didn't go down easily but swaddling and a dummy work well for him

alwaystired24seven · 15/03/2019 15:52

@GiveMeAllTheGin8 isn't walking yet no x isn't sitting unaided fully yet either. I will stop naps from this time now and see if it works tonight

Hi, my DD is 9 months too so thought my routine may be of interest. I say 'routine', it's loose! Depends what we're doing.

Wake up: usually around 7 but it varies from 6-8am and the time she goes to bed or how many naps or how much milk she had before bed make no difference at all, it's totally random.
Bottle upon waking, usually 8-9oz.
Breakfast after nap, usually baby porridge and a drink of water.
Next bottle of around 7oz is about 12pm followed by solid lunch which she will either just pick at things or eat a 70g pouch of fruit or vegetable puree. Varies. Drink of water with that.
Bottle around 4pm, between 4 and 7oz depending on how much lunch she ate.
Dinner around 6pm, again might just pick or might eat a pouch or a dinner of mashed/blended food or soup or something.
Bottle around 7 or 7.30pm drinks between 4 and 7oz depending on how much dinner she ate.
Falls asleep on a lap and is usually in bed by about 7.45/8pm but varies and on a bad night can be more like 8.30/8.45 even.
Nights vary. Best nights she wakes briefly when we go to bed and then puts her own dummy back in and that's it. Bad nights she wakes every 30 mins all night long and needs us to put her dummy back in and then a few times a night walking her up and down or patting her back to sleep for 30 mins at a time ..

Deliberately didn't put naps on as naps are sporadic and a typical day is only 3 30 min naps! She's tired a lot but just won't sleep! Today though she had a nap for 1hr15 mins in the morning on me transferred her to sofa so I couldn't move, then 30 mins in the pram on a walk, then 30 mins on me, now she's having another catnap on me. But she's ill so sleeping more but also being really clingy so I can't put her down.

alwaystired24seven · 15/03/2019 18:42

@MeadowHay thank you for sharing this with me!🍼 And my dd is the same she can be up till 11ish pm even after waking up at 8am in the morning 😢 she's only got to have one more bottle before I get her too bed tonight, so curious to see if this works or not as she hasn't napped much today other than this morning. I hope your baby gets better soon must be horrible for them feeling like that :( x

MeadowHay · 15/03/2019 21:46

To be honest though they all need different amounts of sleep and if you're happy with the way things are I wouldn't feel pressure to put her to bed earlier if it works for you. Obviously if it doesn't then fair enough but I know people on MN get weird about babies going to bed later whereas in some other cultures that's totally normal, it's not like they have to get up to go to school or anything the next day and they can nap in the daytime anyway. DM says the three of us didn't 'go to bed' til 10 or 11pm as babies but we napped as and when in the day.

If you are looking to put her bedtime back you may need to wake her earlier in the morning at the same time each day, make sure she doesn't sleep for a good few hours before the bedtime, and gradually move the bedtime back. When DD was like 2-6 months she got into a vague routine of sleeping like 7-9pmish and then having a bottle, change etc and then going down for the night around 10/11pm. We decided to move from 5 bottles to 4 once we'd started weaning at 6 months so did that and gradually moved the last bottle from 9pm backwards a bit each day until it was around 7pm. If we're lucky she's in bed by 7.30 and those evenings are bliss lol...

thanks she's quite poorly today just got a bad cold virus I guess. Wasn't in bed til almost 9pm today and has already woke up a few minutes ago crying, DH is sorting her out, poor thing(s!).

Lazypuppy · 15/03/2019 21:51

1yo

Up at 7 and bottle of milk
Nursery at 7:30am
Breakfast 8:30am
Lunch 11:30am
Nap 12-1pm
Snack 2pm
Nap 3-4pm
Dinner 6pm
Bath (some nights) 7pm
Bed and bottle 7:30pm

On weekends, she gets up later about 9 so she normally only has 3 meals instead of the 4.

Been liked this since around 7 months. She drinks loads of water throughout the day and i find the more she naps the easier she goes to sleep at night. She's been sleeping through 7-7 since about 4/5 months

Yellowcar2 · 15/03/2019 21:53

I wish my 8mo would nap!
5.30 wake up and feed
7.00 breakfast
9.00 may nod off for 5 mins but not really
9.30 feed
11.00ish snack
12.30ish lunch
2.00 feed & or snack
4.00 feed & or snack
5.30 dinner
6.30 bath
7.00 last feed to sleep
8.00 in cot

Yellowcar2 · 15/03/2019 21:54

I'm starting to worry she doesn't sleep enough my older 2DC were always good nappers?

Ooplesandbanoonoos · 15/03/2019 21:55

Does she maybe need a 3rd nap- cat nap late afternoon so not over tired? Then she may settme earlier .

Rubyduby26 · 15/03/2019 22:03

Nearly 1 year old DS's routine is usually this:

6-7am wakeup & milk (sometimes doesn't drink any)
7.30 breakfast
9.30-10 nap
11.30 lunch
12.30 milk & nap until 2.30 (sometimes doesn't drink any milk here either)
3pm snack
5pm dinner
6ish bath
Ready to be in bed for 7ish with more milk.

Sometimes he doesn't go to sleep until 7.30ish or sometimes he will be asleep by 6.30 depending on if he's had a decent nap in the afternoon!

He doesn't drink much milk anymore it's really hit and miss, the only one he usually has is the bedtime one! He will sip from my beaker all through the day though and he eats quite a lot of food!

X

Rubyduby26 · 15/03/2019 22:09

My DS has only been sleeping through the night for about 4 weeks though before that he would still go to bed about 7ish but could be up for a 4 hour block during the night! Or he could be up 3 times for an hour each time 🙈 i haven't done anything different to stop his wakeups he has just randomly started doing it!

drunkenflamingo2 · 15/03/2019 22:12

16 months

5am milk and back to sleep
7am wake up
8am breakfast

mum2onex · 15/03/2019 22:18

@MeadowHay sorry to hear that your baby's unwell :( well today she got up at 7:45 instead of 9ish am and she's been asleep since 9:10! So I'm hoping she sleeps through the night! My dd hasn't been ill yet x

mum2onex · 15/03/2019 22:18

@Lazypuppy lucky! That's a lovely routine x
