Awake windows and nap times for an 11 week old

Hello! I was just wondering if my 11 week old sleeps too much for her age, since I've been told so by the people who work at the Little Ones website. She seems ok with the amount of sleep that she gets through the day (5,5-6) but a consultant there told me that she's sleeping too much (she gets very fussy if she gets less than this) and now I'm confused. I'd like to know how much you Los sleep during the day please! Thanks for the help :)

I think it is hard to predict what a baby should sleep, they are all really different. I have a 22 week old and he is a cat napper, never really sleeps much during the day and is still up every two to three hours at night. My friend has a 13 week old baby and he seems to be the same, has very little naps during the day but sleeps better at night. Why don’t you mention it to your health visitor if you are worried? I also have a 5 year old and he wasn’t the best sleeper either so I would try and nap with your DC, if you can, as things can change so quickly, especially when they start teething Shock

Thank you very much for your input :) I asked the health visitor and she told me that as long as she is alert and responsive during her awake times it shouldn't be a cause for concern.
She is quite unsettled at nightie for the first couple of hours or so, but then she'll only wake up one or twice during the night, which for her age I don't think is too bad?

Sorry took so long to reply. One or two times for her age is fantastic in my opinion. My mum said I was a really sleepy baby, and I had hoped that my second would sleep a bit more than my first but no such luck. I would agree with the HV and if she seems content and is gaining weight then I would leave her to nap Smile

Yeah, I think I'm going to stop obsessing so much over what she 'should' be doing and just enjoy her more as she is. I suppose worrying about everything is a first time mum must haha.
Thanks again for taking the time to answer, it's nice having somebody with more experience reassure you :)

Oh no problem, totally agree with you, it’s daunting and even second time around I find myself questioning everything. Have a good weekend

Yes you should stop obsessing. Keep off the websites. Listen to your common sense and your baby, Did you not believe your Health Visitor that you needed the internet full of unqualified opinions? She is doing fine. What is a consultant on the Little Ones Website? Has she/he seen your baby
