Bunk beds

So I'm looking for advice on reassurance with moving my youngest into the bottom bunk. He would also be moving out of his own room and sharing with his brother. He is going to be 2 in may. He has a bang about before bed at the moment. He's still in a cot but very rarely wakes at night! I'm so nervous about it. I will be doing it in the Easter holidays so my eldest school doesn't get interrupted. I have a baby due in June which is why the move so it's not really an option not to do it. Any tips or how it's worked out for anyone?

what are you nervous about in particular? would it ease your mind to have one of these on the side of the bed to ensure he can't fall/ easily get out of bed? xx

Oh that's helpful! I have never seen those, only plastic ones that take up a tiny bit of the bed.
I am worried about him getting up because he does literally bang around before going to sleep and then him getting up in the night an disturbing his brother. But hopefully that will stop that! I know it will be a big change for him too moving room as well as bed xx

DS went into the bottom bunk at 18 months with the bedgards in the link above. It's a really good bed guard, I couldn't risk having him in the cot any longer as he had learned to climb out of it. Even with his growbag on, monkey child.
It worked really well stopped him falling out of bed. He slept quite well to, although always has been an early riser so we had to train him to come wake us rather then play and wake his sister.

When he got a bit older trained him.to go downstairs on his own and turn on the TV so we could all get a bit more sleep. Luckly DD is also quite a sound sleeper so he didnt wake her up much.

How far apart did you space them going to bed? So now he has been in bed an hour and still chattering to himself! So I'm worried he would keep my oldest awake, or would you potentially get like a white noise machine to drown out noises the other one makes? X

I don't want to hijack but what age did people put a child in a top bunk? And did they ever fall out? Are some bunk beds safer and harder to fall out of than others?
