GENUINELY eco friendly reusable nappies?! Ones not made out of polyester?!

Ok so I’ve started my toddler (very late to the game) on reusable nappies. After a bit of research, I bought a few pairs of Bambino Mio Miosolo.

But looking at the washing instructions I noticed that they’re made of polyester. Polyester is plastic and awful for the environment! I can’t believe that an eco alternative - reusable nappies - is made from such a harmful material?

I’m left wondering - are they all made of polyester? Are there any genuinely eco friendly nappies out there?

I almost felt better about biodegradable as at least they weren’t made of plastic and would eventually biodegrade (in theory - I know that, as the end up in landfill, they can never get the oxidastion process going that they need to biodegrade). At least they aren’t made from a tonne of crazy chemicals. But polyester is!

Okay - rant over. Can anyone help? Which reusable nappies can I actually feel good about? Any? Or are they all made from polyester? Sad Or please persuade me that they’re still better than biodegradable use-once nappies! 😅

There are various nappies made of bamboo, eg Little Lamb, or Bamboo by Lollipop. You could also have a look on The Nappy Lasy website, and she has this really good questionnaire which helps give you tailored advice, depending on what’s important to you in a reusable nappy see here

Oh brill thank you! I had just bought the Bambino Miosolo on Ocado. They work great (so far), but really wanted something a little kinder on the planet Smile

I will check her out! And those nappies!

You can use 2 parters like Little Lambs or even Terries. Most waterproof covers are plastic but a lot of people now are using wool covers. There's a face book page called Woolley Bum Mums which has lots of help and advice.
I have a mixture of different ones and actually find the Terries really versatile and so easy to wash and dry.
Good luck!

Bamboo nappies with a wool cover. Or buying nth hand nappies - I bought all ds's second hand, and they then did 3 other babies (not mine, I lent them) before I donated or sold them which massively reduces their impact.

Also I buy most of my nappies second hand, and then sell them on when outgrown. Again face book pages are great for this.

I love love that wool nappy cover! How does it fair in the summer?

Seeking that Woolly Bum Mums Facebook group out!
