Nappy Leaks

My LB is 4 months old and for the past 2 months(ish) we have been having issues with leaking nappies.

He was 13lb at last weight and is in size 3 nappies which go up to 20lb so definitely in the right size.

I have tried multiple brands and even ended up googling ‘how to put on a nappy’ in case I was doing it wrong. His nappies aren’t even overly full when it happens and his willy is always pointing down.

It doesn’t happen all the time but when it does, it’s usuallt at night so come the 3am feed I am having to change his clothes and then change again in the morning - it’s becoming a bit of a joke.

Has anyone else had this issue?

Always size up first, even if he’s within the weight range his body shape might not suit that particular size.

Change nappy brands? Pampers always leaked for us. Tesco own, Aldi and Ocado ones are the best we’ve used. It’s sometimes a case of trial and error until you find the right fit.

I'd also try the size up. We had this problem and sizing up helped.

My 4mo dd weighs 19lb! Size 3's have just started leaking. I'm moving her to 4's.

Very annoying because we stocked up on 3's 😂 The local women's refuge will be very happy though.

I’m going to try the size 4s and see how we get on.

I also have a load of size 3 nappies in stock! Going to have to find a charity to give them to also Smile

Pampers baby dry work well for us.

Bamaluz · 02/03/2019 14:16

Use up the size 3s in the daytime .

And get the nappies with the plus on them as they are more absorbent for the size than the ones without.

Mummyof2x · 02/03/2019 17:45

You are buying the wrong sizes .
This tended to happen with me when the current size of nappies was to small .
Also pampers brand are quite bad for leaks.i recommend using Aldi brands cheap aswell and getting a size up .

Is he wearing a vest? Is it the right size? I've had it (and seen it on MN) where it's the vest to blame rather than the nappy

DaffyCactus · 02/03/2019 19:32

Try a bigger size
Try ones with stretchy sides that fit more snuggly.
Make sure the frill on the leg elastics are not tucked in on themselves.

Greaterthanthesumoftheparts · 02/03/2019 19:36

I can second pampers baby dry. We always used pampers premium protect and these leaked really badly between 6-9 months. Our nursery suggested using baby dry and we haven’t had a problem since, even using the same size. He now, at 9.5 months, drinks less and eats more so it’s not such an issue.

Bobbielee91 · 02/03/2019 19:43

@wallsbangers he does wear vests and is still in a 0-3 atm as he is such a little dot but I did think myself that they could be to blame. He’s only just gone into 3-6 clothes so maybe I should change the vests too.

He’s gone to bed tonight in a size 4 nappy so I shall see how it goes.

I already use the Aldi nappies as I found pampers leaked.

Thank you for your help so far Grin

My ds I 6 weeks and nearly 14lb. I've been using the Aldi size 3s for 3 packs and never had a leak. He leaked in Pampers at least once a day (although they were size 2). I have to leave them loose and folded down at the front as his belly button hasn't healed yet and still no leaks.

When we were getting leaks, I noticed it was happening more when he was in his car seat or in a certain position on me. Not sure if that might help.

notakardashian · 02/03/2019 19:49

If you're changing vests I can't recommend the Morrisons ones enough. They are just a pound each and so soft and well fitted. I've just bought some in 3-6 months and they are great. I've wasted so much money on more expensive ones and these are much better.

Bobbielee91 · 02/03/2019 20:20

@notakardashian his seem to only leak at night. He sleeps on his back and has his nappy changed about half an hour before going to bed but by the time he wakes for his bottle, he’s wet 🤦🏻‍♀️.

I already have loaaaads of 3-6 vests due to all of the presents bought for my baby shower etc but I will keep that in mind for when I need 6-9!

Thanks Grin

My boy is around 13lb (11 wks old) and I found that any size 2 used would leak like hell. I’ve actually found Pampers to be the best. Pampers Pure were really good but they’re quite expensive. Pampers baby dry size 3 works just as well, if not better.

Bobbielee91 · 03/03/2019 08:53

Good news ladies - no leaks!

Who’d have thought my little dot would need size 4 nappies 🙊

Thanks for your help and advice everyone x
