Party food ideas

My sons 5th birthday party is 2-4pm so I don't want to do the usual sandwiches etc as there's no point when they'll be breaking for snack/food about 3-3.30...

They'll be cake, but should I do something savoury too? Just wondered what you'd expect from party food at that time of the day?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I don't know if I'm unreasonable but I expect my children will eat at parties and shift around meal times accordingly. So if there's no food I'd let the parents know?

I've given up on sandwiches really as I either make too many (to cover the possibility of everyone wanting the same) or make them fresh which is a bit stressy. So instead I do mini pizzas (cold is fine), a couple of dips and cucumber and carrot sticks, mini sausages, cubed cheese, savoury muffins/corn fritters, crisps and fairy cakes for sweet/jelly in plastic cups. If someone tells me of dietary needs I'll obviously change this and I make sure everything is kept separate in case.

I would do proper party food as PP suggests. If nothing else it fills half an hour! I would also expect food, regardless of the time.

Agree re food - you need party food at a party!

I too would expect food at a child's party.
You sort of factor it in when you plan the time.

Yep you need food at a kids party, op

You need food but you can make it easy! Just do some sausage rolls, mini cold pizzas, some rolls with ham/cheese, packets of pombears, chocolate mini rolls, party rings etc.

It's not a party without good old party food!
