I banged baby’s head...feel so worried...

This evening I was kneeling on the floor, put 10 week old over my shoulder and then got up. I forgot I was below a slanted ceiling and banged baby on the head. Baby started yelling and crying for about 10 minutes, whilst I started crying too because I felt so worried. Baby then breastfed and calmed down. Was still hungry after that so gave a bottle of formula and guzzled 6oz of that.
Then went to parents for supper. Baby absolutely normal - smiling and gaggling away, but did vomit a small amount when we got there. He does vomit sometimes after food, particularly after formula, only once a week or so. Hasn’t vomited since.
Now back home and baby has breastfed again and is now asleep in bed. Seems normal self but am so so worried and feel terrible. Should I call 111? Take to A&E for check up?

If it where me I would keep an eye but he seems fine going by what you have written. Happy and eating. As long as he is not unusually tired and/or vomiting rather than spewing/posseting I would just keep an eye on him. Babies are resilient and wonderful creatures. Try not to stress these things happen. Your a wonderful mother and doing a fantastic job evidently as you have come here worried about your little bundle.

I have walked my dcs heads into doorways while walking through them. No lasting effects. Just take your cues from lo, unusual fussiness, not eating, unusual vomiting or sleepiness, swelling or dent on the head, then get to a medic. Otherwise take a deep breath and forgive yourself, there are many more bumps in the road ahead. Its a marathon, try to save the crazy worry for the biggest bumps.

Hope you're both ok this morning OP. I probably wouldn't have got any medical assistance if baby seemed fine and as normal.

Thank you for your help. He seems perfectly fine this morning but I have rung GP and they can see him at 5pm to check him over. Thanks again - still feel very guilty but I am sure this kind of thing happens with babies...

It sounds like he is fine but I’m glad you’re getting some reassurance from the GP. As an aside- it’s unlikely that he if he is actually still hungry giving him formula is helping- you should really just keep breastfeeding if you can- swap breasts or burp and relatch. And if you do bottle feed- try pace feeding or you will end up in the top up trap which often leads to failure to continue breastfeeding.

Thanks @isadora2007 - I know the advice you are giving is the standard advice but we had loads of problems with breastfeeding (very bad mastitis twice - needed antibiotics and nearly ended up in hospital) that I nearly gave up and was advised to do so by GP. I stick to two bottles of formula a day plus breastfeeding on demand and this approach takes the pressure off a bit and my supply seems absolutely fine.

OP he sounds fine. Don’t beT yourself up about it, I think every parent has accidentally bumped their baby at some point be it on the ceiling, doorframe or while getting them in or out of the car.

@cocopops2010 that’s great it’s helping you continue your BF relationship. I hope the GP reassured you and your wee man is fine.

Thanks for all your advice everyone! He was seen by GP and all is fine. I was so worried yesterday. Better g used to feeling guilty...!
Yes GP happy @isadora2007. I could probably try to exclusively bf again but I think have reached an approach which works so will stick with it.
