Are there any flushable liners deemed OK for septic tank systems? I'm due to spend a week at my parents soon and am considering taking the normal cloth nappies rather than doing a week in dizzys, BUT they have a septic tank and boys pooh is so messy and sloppy at the mo that I'm using flushable liners in every nappy and STILL having stained flease and pooh y terry where it escapes round the edge.
Anyone care to recomend a brand that decomposes OK in a tank?

I think the bambineo ones - I will email now and check.

The php ones say they can be used with septic tanks. I took them to my BIL's parents (who have a septic tank)and flushed them-they haven't told me off for messing up their tank anyway so assuming all ok!

Bambineo/nex got back to me - yes, they are septic tankable (as long as you don't put half a roll down there at once )

WWW.perfectlyhappypeople.co.uk - do flushable biodegradeable septic tank ones.

thank you peeps, Bambineo are the brand I use now, php are the other brand I can get easily (sainsburys). So I shall go to mums with cloth next week. hurrah. Mums been itching to get her hands on his real nappies ever since they got me a free little lamb.

Sarah - pretty much all should be fine, and if they are not, they should say so rather than the other way round.

Bambinex are for sure, as Flame says. They are one of the most break-down-able ones!

Watch yer wipes as well of course, if you use sposie wipes, as all but a few are absolute no-nos for flushing in any system. But I guess you know that :-)

Its my lovely terry wipes that are making me decide to take real nappies away. I HATE dissy wipes, they don't shift shit. The thougt of a week of only crap wipes was too much when mum has a prefectly good washing machine and line I could use.
When I do use dissy wipes out and about I bung them in the bag then washing machine with the nappy and put them in the bin clean.

We used all the main brands of flushable biodegradable liners with our septic tank and it was fine. Just be careful not to get the ones marked as just 'disposable' from some of the high street shop type places as they're polyester and not flushable.

I would suggest if in doubt the best plan is tear each one up as much as you can (without getting your fingers too plastered!) when dropping it in the loo, to help it on its way.

In fact thinking on it we had our septic tank emptied less often that first year, probably cos when we were out at work all day it didn't work as efficeintly as it was designed to do, so maybe all those liners helped?
