Temperature of 35.7 in a 3 year old

My daughter has gone to bed tonight complaining about being cold. Her dad/my husband has a nasty cold at the moment but it is just a cold and not flu. I took her temperature when she had just fallen asleep and it was 35.7 and I have just taken her temperature again an hour later and again it says 35.7, usually it is at 37.5. Should I be worried about a low temperature? She seems to have no other symptoms apart from saying she feels cold.

My dd always had low temperatures when she slept when she was younger. No idea if it still happens now she's a teen. I asked her consultant about it and he told us it was quite common for temperature to be low during sleep.

My daughter's temperature regularly goes that low when she's a bit under the weather and asleep, but that's normal for her. So I wouldn't be that worried in your situation, especially as there are no other symptoms.

Ah ok, thank you both for replying. Seems no need to worry!

My DS tends to get a low temperature whilst sleeping and following an illness/virus. I wouldn't worry too much, but if she's still showing a low temperature during waking hours I'd get in touch with 111.

One other thing would be to check your own temperature with the thermometer; we find they tend to measure low if the batteries are running out.

I don’t want to concern you OP but my DD was 11 months old and had a temperature of 35.6 last year, she went to out of hours as she wasn’t very well, kept crying randomly and just didn’t seem right and we was sent straight to a children’s ward because they were worried it was sepsis. Doctor sat us down and showed us the screen for “requirements of sepsis” and a temperature of less than 36 was a red flag. DD was fine thankfully and after tests showed it was just a really bad virus. I felt awful because I wasn’t aware that it was even considered that low. I’m sorry not trying to alarm you just wanted to tell my experience with a low temperature. X

Low temp can be a symptom of septicaemia in babies.
