DS1 is 2.7, and over the last month or so, he's known when he needs to wee. I know this because if he needs to go, he'll take his nappy off and then put his trousers back on and then wee in them. He will also walk round the house with this willy hanging out over the top of his nappy because he wants to "wee just like daddy" (aren't boys delightful)

Great! you might say.

However, he also has an almost pathalogical fear of the loo and of the potty.

He also won;t tell me that he neds to go because he knows it means time away fromnhis toys/whatever he's doing.

He already has big bioy pants which he chose himself.

I', not the most patient of people either

Help.

ta.

Do you reckon we ought to take him to choose his own potty?

(tightarse DP got one for £1 from Morrisons. It does look quite uncomfortable)

i agree with no potty get a seat for the loo, Ds will only do poo's on toilett at the mo and he always cries "no toilet no toilet" but after it's over we make a huge fuss and clap and he looks all proud

I do feel bad making him stay on the loo when he's crying but he does such massive dumps it takes him ages to do one in his nappy and it always looks so uncomfortable

IntergalacticWalrus · 05/07/2007 08:59

Sweets.....

(makes mental note to buy sweets and not eat them myself)

He'll only go to the loo to flush it, which is a particular obsession. That and throwing DP's watch in it. (DP's fault for leaving it in the bathroom)

Will I be confined to the hpouse for the next 4 months?

Righty.

DS1 told me 1/2 hour ago, he wanted his nappy off.

So I tried to lure him to the loo with some raisins (no sweets in house) He came up for the raisins, but would he sit on the bog?

NO.

He just peed on my skirt instead

please cod please do please please

I have a 2.6 yr old who am pretty sure knows what she needs to do but just won't, and trying to deal with her and a 4 month old isn't working but I really want to only deal with one set of nappies....

I am the last of everyone I know to do, and now friend with 19 month old is going to do it next week and I just can't bear it

Please help - I am hoping to start with ds tomorrow - he's 27months. Been told he should be sorted by 25/26 months (didn't believe that). Have potty ready (he won't go near toilet), have big boy pants (he puts on head!). Don't have masses of time though 'cos of work. How will I know if he is going to pick it up quick or whether to leave it a bit longer?
