Online courses in child development

Hello people of mumsnet!

I'm currently studying for a masters in child development at UCL. During my studies I've learnt a lot of interesting things that could be useful for parents to know, including:

  • Is social media really good or bad for young people's development?
  • Is 'helicopter parenting' bad for children's mental health?
  • Is the way we think about dyslexia flawed?
  • Why are my children so different from one another despite having the same upbringing?
  • Why are some children so addicted to video games?
  • What type of parenting helps children to thrive?

I've been thinking about setting up an online course for parents with videos from top university professors presenting the most up-to-date research in these subjects and more.

I'd like to find out your thoughts on this idea. If a course like this existed, would you take part?

Thanks in advance!Smile

How much would it cost would be my first question?

Followed by, what differentiates it from all the free information currently available on the internet?

It would be good to have something from genuine professionals backed up by the latest research. There is a lot of free stuff available but some has dubious content. I agree with the pp though, how much would it cost. How often would the videos be updated, the latest research isn't the latest for long and some studies will directly conflict with others. How will you choose what is presented?

Don't the OU offer something like this?
