At what point would you worry about a babies loose stools?

He's 12 weeks and his bowel movements have been a cause for concern the whole time.

He's always struggled to go, going 4/5 days between. Been GP but that was a waste of time, just said, he'll regulate by 6 months!

HV slightly better, she suggested colief, he was a very windy baby, cried a lot and screamed from the discomfort of not pooing regularly. This helped although I've struggled to get the dosage right for the first few weeks but we got it, all was well he was going every other day at least, sometimes everyday. Perfect!

However today he hasn't stopped.. I woke up to a dirty nappy and have changed him 6 times today. This mornings nappies were full but have decreased in quantity over the day. He's perfectly happy in himself.. gets upset when filling his nappy but nothing of great concern and is fine once he's finished. He's taking his milk fine.

Obviously I'm keeping a close eye on him but at what point should I worry if at all?

How long have you been giving him colief?
Maybe it's all just coming out because so much has been stored in his bowls.
If he seems like he's in pain or there's blood then I'd go GP soon as. Also if it lasts for more then 2 days I'd go GP aswell. Also look at gripe water, that was a good send when my son was younger and he was constipated. That was the only thing that got his bowls going without any problems

Had he had his jabs recently (with the rotavirus vaccine)? My LO had more poos after it, though not to that extent.

Are you managing to keep him nice and hydrated? Is he okay in himself? If not I would see the GP in the morning.

I hope he feels better soon xx

Could he be teething? My little boy has an awful bum teething. I know it's really early but our friends baby had a tooth at 2 months old! If you're concerned take him to the doctors, he could have a viral infection or something but better to be safe.
