Circumstances where absent fathers aren’t given contact?

Just that really?

I’ve seen post in the past where the mother asks if they should allow the father to see the child/children when they’ve been out of contact for a number of years?

(Not including previous history of abuse)

I suppose what I’m asking it does it really matter what the mother allows if the father takes it to court?

I believe that unless there is abuse the court believes it is in the best interests of the child to have a relationship with both parents. If the parent who has not been in contact is flakey and only half heartedly interested they may not bother to take it to court.

I can’t be much help but I’ve been through family court when my ex disappeared in the middle of the night with our two kids when they were 10 months and 2 and refused to let me see them because I’d told him I wanted to end the relationship, didn’t let me see them for 6 months. We went to court the judge put in place for him to see them every other weekend and when he returned them he just dropped them at SS office instead of me and never came back for them despite all my attempts. He hasn’t bothered since and it’s four years. Now he’s trying and I’ve said no until we go back to court as he still controls the situation and just doesn’t seem to care about their interests.
