Highchair: BabyBjorn vs Stokke Tripp Trapp

My LO is almost ready for weaning and I want to get him a comfortable highchair. So far, I have narrowed it down to either the BabyBjorn or Stokke Tripp Trapp highchair. They're similarly priced but I just can't decide between the two :/ which one should I choose?

Please help.

DS1 (now 11) is still using his Tripp Trapp as a normal chair! Got our money's worth out of that one.

Thanks @BlueChampagne - I know the chair is fantastic re: l

Sorry pressed send too quickly (fat fingers).

I know the chair is brilliant re: it's longevity but do children actually use it on a regular basis? Or are they drawn towards adult or 'grown up' chairs as toddlers? It's a lot of money and I want to invest wisely. The Tripp Trapp certainly wins looks-wise but is it comfortable?

I've thought about second hand too but some of the chairs are older models, needing conversion kits to bring them up to speed safety wise. We're also thinking a new one would stand us in good stead for any future children. Are they comfortable? Are young babies fully supported in the Tripp Trapp and their backs straight? My son is 5 months old and sitting for short periods on his own but needing support on the whole.

Both DCs used it daily as a high chair till they were about 18 months.

I should add we've got a BabyBjorn bouncer and our baby loved that. I'm thinking perhaps the erg

(Argh, did it again!!!)

...Ergonomics of the BabyBjorn chair might be the same and he might enjoy sitting in that chair more. Is that possible or am I overthinking things (very possible)?

We have Stokke Tripp Trapp and my son now 5, continues to use it. He loves it and I expect him to use it through his primary school years. It's white and it's worn very well too. So great value for money over the long term abc you'll be able to sell it second hand too.

Personally I don't think it's the best highchair when they are very little. We bought the baby set and I remember having to pad him in it when he was very little, as it was too roomy.

Given the cost of the baby set alone, I would buy an IKEA highchair (great for baby led weaning) and get their padded cushion. Upgrade to a Stokke when your child is a bit older and can sit in a highchair without the padding. They will then use the Stokke as a seat at the family table for many years.

Also read your note about him only being able to sit unsupported for short periods. You definitely need more support at his age, so IKEA one is it!

I hired the BabyBjorn for a visiting relative and their baby, and it drove both me and the mum nuts. I am sure you get used to it but I wanted to throw it out the window during the week we had it.

I had a very naice high chair (not the Stokke but similar price) but ended up giving it away and getting the IKEA one instead. It's honestly FAR better than any others I've come across and the insert is fab for early weaning. You probably won't get an 11 year old in it though Grin
