I'm interested to know what people think about cosleeping with a baby I.e. having the baby in your bed. Are you for or against and why?

We did co-sleep with DD since she was a baby and until she was around six years old, before she was ready to sleep in her own bed. I don't see anything good or bad; given that we ere busy at work in the day, this provided extra moments of happy bonding/chatting up before she felt asleep. When she switched to her own room/bed, no issues too, although she still wanted to do co-sleeping in the weekends. We are more than happy to accommodate that, but probably not anymore in the next year or two. :P

The extra time has turned out to be the unanticipated best outcome for us. My DD is at school and she says the time where we chat at bedtime is her favourite part of the day.

It’s a necessary tactic to survive a terrible sleeper IMO.

I don’t like it but it’s preferable to the hell of bad sleep deprivation, and also it’s safer than it.

I think the NHS etc need to be more realistic with mums about the reality of sleep with babies - especially breastfed babies - and not just doggedly insist on absolute best practice sleeping arrangements. They don’t work for many families as the baby won’t tolerate being alone in a cot, then no one gets any bloody sleep and everyone is wrecked and miserable.
