I'm stuck on what to do... My son has started nursery and I was hoping this would stop him hitting, biting and throwing things at us when in fact, it's worse! We're struggling getting him into a proper bed time routine so he's still in with us and I'm getting frustrated that my partner and I haven't even sat down to watch a film in the evening because I go to be when my son does as he screams if I don't. Need advice on getting him into a proper bedtime routine and discipline... thank you x

What do you do at the moment when he does these things?

When does he do these things? And what do you do. Toddlers do this out of frustration usually when they feel they have no control.

I firmly say no throwing/hitting/biting etc.. sit him on the floor and ignore him for a bit. I've been doing this for a good few months now and it's not subsiding.. It's worse than ever now..

You have to understand children do things not because they want to be bad, at this age, they are learning cause and effect. "What noise will this make when I throw it against the floor?" Throws it. "Hmm how about against the table?" This is why the bang, throw etc, it's very important you treat him with respect always, although there's a time and place for everything. If he has the urge to throw take him outside and give him balls. Buy him a drum. Another great toy is a hammer and ball toy. I guarantee he'll love it. With the biting, He might be teething or he's doing it to get a reaction. Children at this age love a reaction. Good or bad they love it. So when he bites you very calmly say lplease don't bite me, it hurts." Keep a straight face. And continue to do what you're doing. If you scream and shout or act dramatic he's going to continue to do it and he might even laugh because he thinks it's funny.

At this age my son wanted to bang on everything. So when he did, I'd tell him "here you can bang on this," or you can't hit me, because it hurts., but you can hit the ball with the hammer." He loved it and still is one of his most played toys.
