Any tips for getting baby back to sleep at 4am?

My dd (1) often struggles to get back to sleep at 4am. I'll pick her up/rub her back/sing and she'll almost be asleep and then will wake up again. I'm night weaning her at the moment so I used to often feed her or bring her into bed at that time, so I appreciate it's a big change for her. But it is time for our family to change this so I would like to find other ways to help her to settle back to sleep for an hour or two. Any tips welcome!

No idea I’m afraid, but if you find out please do let me know! I’m dead on my feet with 4am starts.

Don't pick her up, don't sing, don't turn any lights on, don't give her water or milk or anything else, just whisper 'it's still night time' and 'shhh' and give her a pat and leave again. It won't work immediately, but it sounds like she's used to waking up at that time and so you need to break the habit. The key is consistency. She will need to learn the new routine, so decide what your new routine will be, show her that there is no point waking at that time, because nothing interesting will be forthcoming, and hopefully she'll get the idea.

@graysor good luck! Really not fun, is it?!

@juneau thanks; definitely a habit, one that I've accidentally instilled... I find it hard not to do the singing/rubbing back etc but you're right, I need to change the routine.
