Don't use soap. Soap dries eczema prone skin out and can lead to irritation. Oilatum do a soap-free wash for babies and children. Simple baby also do a good gentle bath range. If baby does develop eczema I would just use a good emollient cream for washing, soap is a definite no go for eczema.

Congratulations on your 2nd baby!

You really don’t need any soap or bath products at all.

I’ve always used Cowshed. It’s pricey but as far as I know its quite natural- no parabens or sulphates.

dont worry i know perfectly well you dont wash a young baby more than once a week. But babys in my family spit up all the time so there will be times were they need a wash with more than water

My baby is nearly a year and I barely ever use soap or shampoo on him. I'm still on the first bottle I bought before he was born and I've got way more than half left. His skin is beautiful although I'm feeling guilty now.

How often are you meant to wash them? He does bath or shower at least every other day because he won't let me shower alone

lifeofamummy · 06/02/2019 22:17

@Divgirl2 A bath or a shower every other day for an almost one year old is fine! I personally wouldn't leave it any longer than a day between baths at that age as they get up to a lot more in the day than say a 1 month old would! Don't feel guilty! Using soaps or soap-free wash is a personal preference, it's each to their own, just using water is ok too! Smile

You mean babies.

We love child's farm. Suitable for eczema prone skin. I remember a viral Facebook post a while ago that people were using the moisturiser and it cleared their eczema.
You can buy unscented and scented. Tesco sometimes has them on offer.

Quite a few friends love Aveeno also.

peachy

Don't call people mean babies, that's not nice.

MooGoo is awesome. My DT are 12 and looked like they had been burnt. Both had terrible eczema. MooGoo is AMAZING. No steroids now. Nothing is going to convince me it's a coincidence, as it's the only thing I changed, and their skin sorted itself out pretty quickly and almost at the same time. (I used their wash and the eczema cream, then swapped to the skin milk cream which comes in a bigger, pump, lotion bottle and I prefer that one, tbh.)

Another vote for child's farm for the times you need more than just water
