Waterproofing beds, in need of a bit of advice please

Just wondered if you could answer a couple of questions regarding waterproof bedding please. What type of waterproof bedding did you use for your dc at night? Ive seen a set in Argos and its a waterproof bottom sheet, waterproof duvet cover and waterproof pillow case, is this a bit exessive? Sounds like it would make them sweaty. Ive also heard of the pampers mattress protectors, are these any good? Do they move about during the night?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks

For my two I use a waterproof sheet that has a sort of towelling top layer to it (so the childs sheet is not straight on to plastic IYSWIM). I think I bought it from somewhere like Dunhelm Mills or Rosebys.

I've not bothered with a waterproof cover for the duvet/pillow -seems a bit OTT unless bed-wetting is a nightly occurance I suppose

I use the Pampers covers. They don't seem to move about, dd doesn't complain about them and I don't notice it when I get into her bed. She hardly ever wets though, in fact never now (touch wood!) so I suppose they might get expensive if you had to buy lots

Hi nails. I bought that set from Argos but only ended up using the bottom sheet as it is really plasticy and noisy when you move against it, didn't think dd1 would be very snuggly in her bed.

I used the pampers protectors too and they were very good, you can tuck them under the mattress so they dont move so much, I only stopped using them and bought the other set as dds betwetting went on much longer than I anticipated and it was getting expensive!

I use similar to BettySpaghetti

But DS is 8 now and has only just stopped wetting at night (touch wood, am hoping he has stopped and DD is 5. So those sheets have been laundered millions of times, they are now worn out and shrunk and I need to buy new ones.

It's worth getting good quality ones because you don't know how long you'll need them for and if you are as unlucky as I am, you might need them for longer than you think.

I got one of those towelling sheets from Mothercare. I agree that anything else is OTT.

I have 2 washable waterproof mats for dd. www.jojomamanbebe.co.uk/detailfash.php?type=FASH&code=A7118&branch=IF&category=FPT71

I have also used pampers mattress protectors, they are good but they can be expensive if you have to change them every day.

I've used cheap shower curtains! They don't make DS1 sweaty, aren't of the rustling type and to my knowledge are the cheapest and most effective - you can pop in the wash too.

Thanks, definately won't consider the mattress/duvet and pillow cover, I did think it sounded ott. Off to look at mattress covers and your link lizziemum.
Thanks everyone.
