DD banged head on very hot radiator

She was crawling and banged her head on the bottom of it. She didn’t cry but the skin where she banged it has gone shiny and peeling, but not red.

Should I do anything about this?

She’s otherwise fine, eating drinking and behaving as normal

I would take a baby with a burn to A&E. Anyone with a burn bigger than a postage stamp should seek medical attention but especially a baby or anyone elderly.

It’s much smaller than a postage stamp and doesn’t really look like a burn. It is obviously some sort of burn but looks like it’s just affected the top layers.

I know if I call 111 they will probably say a&e but it doesn’t even bother her when I touch it or put cold on it which i did straight away.

I think a&e would upset her way more than what’s happened I just wonder if Shen needs the gp

Burns can get infected quickly so keep checking for signs of infection. You could always pop to a pharmacist if your DD is still awake now the ones in most supermarkets are open until 11pm and again open again at 7-8am in the morning so you could ask them for a consultation and they could either sell you something for it or tell you whether it needs GP / A&E /111 etc

Good idea about going to a chemist, I mean even now there’s nothing to show apart from a little bit of dry skin it never even went red.

She’s definitely not bothered by it but I think getting a second opinion if it looks red in the morning is a good call

I'm probably a terrible parent but honestly I wouldn't be worried about this at all.

It's just one of those things that babies learning to crawl sometimes do.

Your instinct is telling you she is fine, I would trust your instinct.

JingleJake · 03/02/2019 22:19

Instinct says she’s fine really pasta i think you are right.

Good mix of responses has made me realise I think she’s ok. She didn’t cry so it mustn’t be have hurt, there’s no red mark so I wouldn’t even really call it a proper burn.

There is a small patch of dry skin I’ll keep my eye on. Thank you for advice x
