Clip on / suction mat for eating out

We like to eat out but so often find that venues only have the wooden high chairs with no tray.

Can anyone recommend a tray that clips onto the table top, or some kind of suction tray / mat that actually sticks (bearing in mind most restaurants have wooden tables).

Thanks

I just pull the high chair up to the table. Why do you need a tray?

Partly worried about the mess across the table when out and also the hygiene of restaurant / pub tables.

I used something like this (not sure of this was the exact one) www.amazon.co.uk/Preejoy-Restaurants-Eco-Friendly-Biodegradable-Educational/dp/B01LWO37Z0?tag=mumsnetforum-21

My children would dump bowls or plates on the floor along with any regular mats. These mats stuck down well which mean they had a clean surface that they couldn’t remove.

I second an EasyMat! They're fab-got ours off Amazon and it comes with a lid plus a pouch to carry it around in. The suckers actually stick properly and we use ours at home aswell

No suggestions but I'm frequently annoyed by just how unsuitable most high chairs are in eating establishments.

Those stupid wooden ones with no tray that also don't sit at the table at a useable height. EVERYWHERE. The child either ends up with their forehead at food height or about 20cm away from the actual table.

MaggieFS · 02/02/2019 23:27

@pastabest Yes! DS is just able to sit up so at the smallest end to use high chairs which we've been doing for a couple of weeks now and there's nothing 'high' about them! Blasted wooden frame things with useless harnesses. How hard is it?

Sorry that's off topic, but great question OP, I'm following with interest as due to the latest use of a shit low-high chair DS was trying to gnaw the edge of a pub dining table today which turned my tummy.

We had one of these too for both children. They were a godsend as we always knew the surface they were eating off was clean. We always got comments from other parents ask no where we'd bought it.

I put a folded up jumper under dd so she sits abit higher. She's 1 now so not needed all the time.

Also, either i wipe the table down with a wet wipe or most of the time she eats off of a plate
