Breast pump recommendations?

Google hasn't been much help so far!

I'm expecting DD2, hoping to breastfeed again. If all goes well, I'll need to express regularly due to my working hours. Please can I have your most effective pump recommendations??

I have a Philips Avent electric pump (single) from last time still, but would like to get something better as I found expressing such a relentless faff last time!

I used [https://www.motherandbaby.co.uk/reviews-and-shop/feeding/breast-pumps/ameda-lactaline] it worked really well and was still going strong at 14months. I pumped a lot at the beginning to build up a freezer supply and often when I went back to work.

I use a Medela swing pump but I also love the "haakaa" silicone type pumps which uses suction to help keep your let down going and collect milk with no pumping. I use either baby or electric pump on one side to trigger let down and then silicone pump on the other. Normally collect an equal amount from each side and cheaper than a double pump.

For various reasons I tried out four different pumps:

Medela symphony
Medela swing
Philips Avent
Tommy Tippee

The Tippee one was easily the worst. It worked but was noisy and had a zillion components so fiddly.

I liked the Phillips Avent one but it gave up the ghost after I'd been using it for a couple of weeks (it's was a hand-me-down)

The Medela swing was just as effective for me as the much more expensive hospital Medela Symphony.

So I'd recommend the Medela Symphony.

Top tip: the sterifeed storage bottles can fit directly onto the Medela Swing so that's really convenient for expressing milk to freeze.

Oops. Just realised I meant to say I recommend the swing Not the symphony!

Medala definitely make the best hand pump, but my Ardo calypso was better than the medala swing I tried. Quieter and better suction. I think a lot depends on how the flange size suits you though, most pumps come with two sizes and depending on your boobs/nipples what’s good for one person can be awful for another

For regular expressing I would recommend the Medela freestyle, it's a double electric.
