Tooth brushing

We live in a non-English speaking country for work so getting help and advice here is quite difficult so I’m hoping somebody can tell me what I should be doing with my 9mo baby’s teeth. (I’m a first timer).

He currently has 4 teeth but they haven’t come through all the way yet. I bought a little chewy thing with bristles to clean them but when do I need to start actually brushing them?

I am also a little worried about tooth decay (which actually hadn’t even occurred to me until I saw someone else’s post just now). At the moment he has a total of up to 800ml of formula per 24-hour period (he’s very tall and big so seems to need a lot) and three ‘meals’ which mostly end up on the floor. He usually wakes up twice a night for formula. When should I stop giving him bottles at night? I’m worried about letting him go hungry but I don’t want to ruin his teeth.

Start brushing them when with tooth paste when they start to appear. I also google for what ever health info I want and add NHS at the end.

The phrases is the UK is milk is for fun until 1. Keep giving formula for now and then if he stills needs it at 18 months review it.

Are you giving finger food?

You need to be brushing his teeth twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste and toothbrush. Google children's centres near you and go to see a health visitor there. They will be able to explain in more detail and may even find you a suitable toothbrush and toothpaste to get you started.

Yes! Brush them. I was naive and allowed my son to brush them himself thinking it was enough and now he's 17 months and has tooth decay. I cajoling believe it as he doesn't have sweets and is not allowed juice. However dentist said it's from him having a bottle of milk through the night. 🤦🏽‍♀️ I wish I would've been more attentive with his teeth.
