What to do with my almost 15 month old???

I’m not talking about baby groups/outings!!!!! I have a list as long as my arm of places to go, but I think it’s important to play at home too and we can’t be out all the time.

We’ve been to monkey music this morning and since we got back we’ve done:

Play kitchen
2-piece puzzles (completely beyond him)
Post box ✔️✔️✔️
Toy kitchen ✔️✔️✔️
Had lunch
Percussion bag ✔️✔️✔️
Teletubbies

He enjoys:
Roaring
Screaming reeeeally loud (for fun)
Climbing, eg up onto the painting easel
Music/dancing
Books
Wrestling/rough play which stresses me out
Cbeebies
Climbing
Emptying and sometimes refilling receptacles
Soft toys
Jumping off the sofa
Mugs, full or empty 😐
He’s been walking/running for almost 5 months now so that doesn’t hold us back
The Beatbo toy
The Toot Toot train track

I just need some inspiration of how to play with him. DH suggested making some biscuits but he doesn’t have the foggiest about any of that, nor the attention span?? Would that really be a good plan? Maybe play doh? Everything goes in his mouth still.

DS1 was really into cars already by this age and would ride around on his ride on fire engine a lot but DS2 is almost completely disinterested in the hundreds of cars we have. I was so much more active in playing with DS1 but it seems I’ve become lazy and boring!

I made DS1 various toys I think but I’m drawing a blank now???? I know I made a ball run out of 2L bottles but we don’t buy those anymore. He’d probably like a treasure basket so I could make one of those but it’s just more stuff to empty out and tidy at the end of the day. And things always end up on the kitchen floor. He only shows an interest in something for a minute or 2!

He’s the sweetest happiest angel baby ever and I just don’t want him to be bored on the 2 days I have him 1:1! He sleeps for a good 3 hrs in the middle of the day too and then it’s straight into the nursery run so I only really have a couple of hours 2 days a week while DS1 is at nursery. And I want to have fun with him!

Just need some ideas, thanks!

15 months is the sensitive period for fine motor skills. Things like stacking cups, stacking rings, puzzles. You can put warm water in a container and let him put a cup or some animal figures and he'll have a ball purring water into one container to another. Great for fine motor skills and concentration. Opening and closing small containers. Find a few containers at home. Like maybe an empty coffee jar and its lid, a small box and its lid, or any small container with a lid. About 4. Put them in a basket and let him match which lid goes on which box or container. Again great motor skill activity. Painting is also a good one. Although it's a little messy. Stamps, colouring, stickers. Give him a sticker and let him place it on a peace of paper. I'll attach a picture of my sons toy shelf so maybe you can get a few ideas! He's 17 months. But I'll have a look at what things he loved at 15 months.

My son at 15 months.. some of his favourite toys and activities. Pouring water into a cup was his favourite at this month. And still is. Very messy but he always helps me mop after.

Chopping fruit was also a favourite. But only you will know if your child is ready for that OP. Every time I made egg I washed the shells and let him squish them in a bowl. Good sensory activity. He lovedddd his coin jar. Always had my eyes on him with this one. He stopped puttting things in his mouth quite early, so I felt comfortable with this one.

Thanks for these ideas everyone!

OP I also have a 15mo boy. He also loves stickers (got like 900 off amazon for a few quid) to stick on everything a massive roll of paper. Some good crayons are the stabilo woody colouring pencils. Kinda like watercolour but rubs off everything (including the sofa Hmm). Going to try putting down a big towel and let him do some watery play. He loves bubbles actually so maybe that.

He really loved that apart from when he cried. I whacked up the heating though and I'd suggest having a lot more bubbles than water to play with Blush

Edible paint/ play doh - recipes on Pinterest. Messy play - rice and scoops/ vehicles, kinetic sand, cooked spaghetti, paint with different things to make marks - sticks, vehicles, potato printing, jelly, cooked spaghetti/ pasta. Fill up the bath and Chuck toys in/ bubbles/ bath crayons etc. Google messy play activities - there are loads.

DS was very active at this age so we got a swimming membership and went 3-5 times a week also soft play.

@GrapesAndCheese I'm glad he had fun! 😍 my ds plays with water for hours like this. I also give him a kitchen sponge(new) with soap and he loves to squish it. Good to strengthen the small muscles in his hands!

Ooh thanks soooooo much for so many ideas everyone!! I feel like DS2 is Great at gross motor and social skills, but lacking in the fine motor stuff, so I should really get on a lot of these suggestions. The postbox toyed pictured above is one of his favourite toys at the moment, but he can’t do it to save his life, he just likes when I surprise him with a toy hidden inside it 😄 off to make a list of these ideas thanks! Just what I was after.
