DD has been invited to a couple of 3rd birthday parties. How much money is the norm to spend?

Bumping for the evening crowd. I’m a bit clueless with this one.

I tend to spend around £10 for the gift but I’m not sure I am typical.

Usually between £5-8 depending on how well we know the child and how organised we've been in buying something! It gets expensive when the party invites start piling up!!

£10 tops. Between £5 and £10 I reckon.

Somewhere between £5 (if I've got a bargain) and £10. Play doh set is a go to for a 3 year old for me

When they are that age and going to several parties a month £5-£8 progressing to £10 for good friends. Now they go to fewer parties and have a closer group of friends £10-15. If dc want to spend more than that on a “best friend” they have to pay the difference from spending money. HTH

Great. That was kind of my thinking but friends with slightly older kids but still at the age of class parties suggested £10 to £15.

Your friends with slightly older kids will probably only attend five or six parties a year as they are mainly just close friends at that stage. I spend between £5-£10 mostly but try to stock up on bargains if I can.

Huntawaymama · 31/01/2019 07:02

I try and buy a stock of gifts in sales but generally £10

Jackshouse · 31/01/2019 07:03

Swishswish26 friends’ children are school nursery and year 1.

An Orchard game is perfect.

LiquoricePickle · 31/01/2019 07:20

That's a completely perfect present!

anniehm · 31/01/2019 08:00

£5-10 but I bought books in bulk as they came thick and fast from 4!

Jackshouse · 31/01/2019 11:40

Thank you everyone.

Orchid games are perfect- see if you can get them in three for two so you’ve got a stash.
