Hello, I was just wondering if anyone could help my baby is 12 weeks old and the last 4 days he’s been getting really upset and refusing to feed(he does eventually) when he does feed his tummy starts gurgling but he does bring his wind up really well now! He also gets really bad tummy ache and then he’s fluffing(he’s not constipated as he’s been going to the toilet) He is always sick a bit after a bottle! He use to get really upset during the night when he was about 4 weeks old which we thought was colic so we changed his milk to comfort and we was also using colief which worked and we had no problem up until now! He uses mam anti colic bottles aswell but nothing seems to be helping😩

DD was exactly the same as you describe, we never found out the cause. Settled down by itself eventually. Can you give your HV a call?

Is he coming down with something, could be teething related also. I always forgot about that one.

You say he's always been sick a bit after a feed, could also be reflux. Try keeping him upright for at lest 30minutes after feeding, also feed in a more upright position. Smaller feeds more often can help with this to.

As long as he's still weeing a lot producing the same dirty nappies he always had and gaining weight then you'll find medically they won't do much for you. Just keep an eye on out put babies can get dehydrate quite quickly if they don't take milk.

Yes I think my ds is teething as he’s constantly dribbling, always has his hands in his mouth and anything he can try and grab really! Not sure what’s best to give and I don’t want to give him stuff is he’s actually not teething?

I feel so helpless when my ds is like this it’s so horrible!
Yes I spoke to my HV but she wasn’t much help at all when I spoke to her last she just said it’s where his stomach is still developing so wasn’t much help!

Does he arch his back in pain during/after feeds?

BabyA1 · 29/01/2019 14:38

No he just pushes the bottle out then cries but you can tell that he wants it but something obviously hurting him so he spits it out😩

What is his poo like?

Reflux

NameChange30 · 29/01/2019 15:31

We are not medical professionals and even if we were, we couldn't diagnose over the internet. Take baby to the GP.

However, before going to the GP you could read up on the symptoms of reflux and CMPA and see if (m)any of them fit.

I'll try and dig out a link for reflux

NameChange30 · 29/01/2019 15:34

Infant reflux
www.nhs.uk/conditions/reflux-in-babies/

If it is reflux there is a good book on it called "Colic solved"

If you suspect CMPA, you need to do a dairy-free trial (using hypoallergenic formula if you are formula feeding) and if symptoms improve that will confirm the diagnosis.

It’s dark green but my HV told me it’s normal due to the fact my ds is on comfort milk

I would take HV's comments with a pinch of salt. Some are good and some are not. Read the resources I've shared and see the GP.

My daughter was the same, taking bottle so obviously hungry but then spiting it out and crying.
Eventually she was diagnosed with silent reflux and prescribed infant gaviscon. Now she has no issues drinking the whole bottle
