Does this sound like reflux?

Hi all, My DD is almost 5 weeks old and the past few days has been bringing up quite a lot of her milk sometimes an hour after she has fed. The last couple of nights she hasn’t been settling to sleep very well, will want feeding but only take a small amount, I will put her down and she will move around like she is in pain, then fall asleep but wake up screaming again an hour later. She also gets hiccups at least once a day which she doesn’t like and gets her worked up again.
Would you recommend I get a go appointment? Thank you

Yes I would make a GP appointment, My DD was like this, throwing up most of her feed, Not settling and hiccups I thought it was reflux at first and was prescribed Gaviscon but it turned out to be Pyloric stenosis and she had to have an operation. Im not saying your Dd has this as its quite rare but its best to be safe and take her to the doctors.

Definitely see your GP this is similar to my DS who was diagnosed with reflux (although as the previous poster rightly says it could be pyloric stenosis or something else entirely!)

If it is reflux they'll probably prescribe Gaviscon first. But don't be disheartened if gaviscon doesn't help. It made my baby very constipated which was possibly worse than reflux for us! Push ahead and ask your GP for something else. He's on Rantidine now and it's amazing for us, he's a changed baby at 10 weeks, content and smiley!

Sounds like it could be, both my sons had it, Ds1 mild, Ds2 horrific. Under paediatrician for it.

Ds2 was 15 weeks old, GP prescribed Gaviscon, it didn't work, we were then referred to paediatrician, and good old Ds2 did a classic reflux as he was laid down on the bed meaning the paediatrician got to see if first hand.

He was prescribed prescription formula that thickened on contact with stomach acid. Worked beautifully. He is now almost 13 years old.

Definitely go to the GP, if you can film the screaming, all the better as it helps them see that they are not just crying but appear to be in pain.
