Hi.
So dont no if this is the right thread to post. Firstly my baby who is 5 months and 3 year old are going to share a medium to small room. What age do ppl think? Baby is quite good at sleeping snd 3 year old is to. I m thinking sooner like 6 months my husband's unsure. Any experience? Also atm 3 year old is in toddler bed and baby in cot. Room is smallish. Has anyone had a cot and bed bunk bed? Is it a thing? Many thanks x

No way I'd put a 3 year old in a bunk bed.

We moved ds1 in with ds2 at over 1 but ds2 wasn't a great sleeper. It's worked really well. I think if your dc2 is a good sleeper then any time is fine to out them in together. I definitely wouldn't put a 3 year old in a bunk though. I looked into bunks recently for my children (8 and 4) and all the advice I read online suggested they were safest for age 9 and up. I decided it wasn't worth it after reading up on the risk versus benefit, as our older ds usually gets up to use the toilet at some point in the night and would therefore have to navigate the steps semi-awake in the dark. My sister is a paediatric nurse and my bil is a doctor and they've both seen children injured falling from bunks/bunk steps. We're still hoping to get them, but waiting a bit longer.

There are cots and bunk beds available but there was recently a terrible case of a baby dying due to faulty design, so I’d be very wary of them.

My 4 year old still regularly falls out of bed so I wouldn’t consider a bunk bed so young.

A lot of people use the Ikea Kura - it’s a midsleeper with empty space underneath, so you could put a mattress on the floor (pref raised on wooden slats to avoid mould) for the baby, and the 3 year old on top. At least that way if they fall it’s not so far. But obv means the baby isn’t contained in a cot so it can be harder to get them to settle.

Google Shanticot. Or the bunkcot company (same company). They are able to be used either as two bunkcots, two bunkbeds or one of each. You can have the cot on top and the bed on the bottom so no worries about falling out for the toddler.

Unfortunately they no longer sell them new, but they are often available on eBay. Love ours.

Ok.
Thinking about it bunk beds are taller than i was thinking. Still interested about the age of the children though one in toddlr bed and one in cot in same room. Sooner or later?

I would wait a fair few months yet, baby will wake toddler when you are trying to get her into a pre school routine.
