Reuseable Nappy Help- Bambino Miosolos

I've been using bambino miosolos since my little boy was about 3 weeks old. They were working really well for us but now at 10 weeks old they're suddenly leaking almost every time. It doesn't seem to be a timing issue as I've just changed him out of a sodden one only to feel him leaking through again 10 minutes later.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Completely new to reuseables and I'm pretty upset that I've wasted so much money on a product that appears to no longer be working.

Sorry if this is the wrong section to post on!

So you need a bigger size maybe? You can add terry towel padding inside, to increase the holding capacity, too.

I don't know much about this but read a similar post in a zero waste Facebook group I'm part of. The general gist was that it's possible that the washing of the nappies has left some build up of detergent which is stopping them absorbing.. or a couple or other things which I've forgotten. The poster was advised to join a cloth nappy fb group and ask for advice there. Thought I'd mention it as this post is quiet and it sounds really annoying for you! Good luck

Not sure if you're on Facebook... But there is a cloth nappy uk group where you will get loads of help and advice!

Thank you everyone! Sorry, I didm't get notifications for your posts! @TigerQuoll they're meant to be for all ages so at 10 weeks I'm hoping they still fit- I'm possibly not putting them on tight enough around the thighs so I'll try that.
To the other two comments- thanks I'll try and join that fb group and look up about detergent :)

Are they sodden when you change them or just leaking in places? Could be that clothing is too tight so liquid is wicking through.

We had to stop using all in ones like mios because we just couldn't boost them enough & get a good fit, so DS was outpeeing them. Sometimes the shape of baby has an impact too.

How do you wash them?

Sorry 20 questions! We cloth bummed from birth here & have had some interesting issues with different nappies this time!

TheVeryHungryTortoise · 28/01/2019 14:29

@pissedoffdotcom He does seem to be a heavy wetter but when I've checked the nappies they seem to mainly be damp around the leg area.

I'm fearing that we too might struggle with these now! I have a few nappies that aren't all-in-ones but I find them a bit of a pain and my partner is useless at putting them together!! The miosolos don't always leak though, maybe 80% of the time, and I don't feel like I'm leaving them on for too long sometimes so am a bit confused about why they don't work for us.

I wash them with non-bio powder on either a 40 or 60°C extra rinse cotton wash. I air dry rather than tumble dry.

I don't really know anything about boosters. Are there any you'd recommend?

Try adding a bamboo booster - the microfibre doesn't hold much liquid. I used mio solos permanently with my first and am using them again with my second. I have always boosted them with bamboo though as the microfibre just doesn't hold enough. You may also need to change the rise using the poppers on the front, make sure there are no gaps at all around the leg and pull the elastic right into their knicker line, so all leg fat is outside. Good luck!

Pissedoffdotcom · 28/01/2019 14:51

Sounds like they could not be fitting very well round the legs. I'm assuming there are no tell tale red marks of them being too tight on his legs?

Boosters are basically extra layers. You can buy specific brands - we use little lambs - or you can make do with muslin cloths. The problem with all in ones & boosting is it alters the fit. We struggled with fitting them around DS legs & so he would leak everywhere.

We use bamboozle stretches now with little lamb wraps - no matter how badly put on the nappy is, as long as the wrap fits properly & is covering everything you rarely leak.

You could try pocket nappies? No need for a wrap & they have areas for boosters inside.

Maybe google to see if you have a nappy library nearby? They can help massively & have kits of mixed nappies to see what works
