Head lice Nightmare!! 😭

I seem to have stepped into a head lice nightmare after keeping my 3 girls nit free for the last 10 years...

I don’t know what I can do more but they just keep coming back and it’s really getting me down.

We comb through with a nitty gritty comb twice a week, treat and then repeat with headrin gel, we use the vosene shampoo that’s suppose to deter them and the girls always have their hair tied up tight for school...what am I doing wrong?!

As much as I feel for the little girl in the ongoing thread about her having her hair shaved off, I’m not dad off of it (joke...I think!!)

Does anyone have any hacks or suggestions of reliant products to get rid of the little critters once and for all!

They could be getting reinfested at school or you may not be clearing them properly. Lice have a 3 week cycle so I wouldn't stop treating after 2 weeks but would continue for an extra week

I feel your pain.
It got to the point I posted on the class WhatsApp for parents begging everyone to treat their kids over the half term.

I have no suggestions apart from combing wet hair covered in conditioner with a nutty gritty every 2-3 days for at least 3weeks then do it every week.
I had to keep on and on on the parent group and asked the teacher to move dd away from certain kids when they sat on the carpet.

It’s so frustrating isn’t it!!

I’m combing like a madwomen but with having 3 girls with various clubs, sports, pets, hobbies, homework it’s just one more thing to account in to the mad evening routine!!

Wahhh...rant over!!

Sent DH our for more treatment and going to mix it up with the full marks 15 minute treatment as we have used headrin the last 3 times. Confused

I used to let mine sleep overnight smothered in conditioner and just wash off in the morning. Seemed to work

I find it hard to remove all the eggs from my daughters hair especially as it’s long and fine so the nitty gritty doesn’t remove all the eggs. I treat her with headrin once, then comb it all out, and then hair dry then I use hair straighteners to try and kill any remaining eggs. Then repeat every few days (with conditioner instead of headrin). Very time intensive but I’ve found it works. Good luck!

Tea tree oil shampoo and conditioner, google the cetaphil method (it works), tightly French or Dutch plait the hair in two pig tails if it’s long enough, spray with hairspray every day. Tell the children not to hug their friends or let their heads get too close to other children.

Oh and make sure all bedding and towels are washed at the same time as de-loosing!
