Should I take this further?

Hello everyone,

I'm just looking for some opinions on a situation my daughter told me about at school today.

She said one of her teachers had called her "a little twit" as she told the teacher she had lost part of her homework that was due to handed in.

I know that's not swearing but for some reason it doesn't sit well with me. I don't like name calling and I don't promote it, neither does my daughters school. So to be told a teacher has said this, I'm shocked.

What does everyone think? Am I over reacting? Or should I ask the school for an explanation as to why the teacher felt it necessary to say this?

Thanks

I'm with you on this one.

Fair enough, the language wasn't extreme in the slightest but there was absolutely no need at all to call her anything.
A simple "that's unacceptable. Please remember to bring your full homework in tomorrow" would've done fine.
Name calling is just rude.

I'd speak to the school personally but at the same time it may not be a good idea as the teacher could give your daughter a hard time about it.

Just do what you feel is best.

I’m not keen on name calling.

A teacher called my Year 5 child and her friend ‘brats’. Like you, I was going to speak to the school.

In the end I decided to leave it if it was a one off. Which it was.

I don’t think twit is a bad word, it might have been said affectionately, so I’d leave it this time, but if it happens again I’d mention it.
