Rear facing car seat for 8 month old?

Any recommendations for a car seat that rear faces? Possibly one that reclines also!

My little one is getting a bit big for her infant car seat now :)

Thanks!

Which seat is it? They are normally ok until 13kg/29lbs. Not outgrown until head is over the backrest

BeSafe Izi is not as massive as some erf seats and I think it's the best seat we've had. Lasts until 18kg.

We had a britax dualfix and loved it. It spins round which is genius as it makes getting in and out really easy. Mine was in it til at least 3 years old.

Definitely recommend the Britax Dualfix or the Joie 360. Being able to turn the seat to face you makes it so much easier to get them in & out, especially when they start moving about more. It's much better for your back as well as they get heavier.

We got the Dualfix for DS when he was 14 months ish & I wish I'd got it sooner. DD went in it from birth. We've just got the Joie for DD to use in my mums car. DS was in the Dualfix until 3, would have been longer if DD didn't need it.

We also hd the Britax dual fix 😁

My DGS is two and I've only recently started taking him in my car. On the recommendation of a granny friend I bought a Joie 360 Spin, and I love being able to turn it to face the door when I lift him in and out. I have it rear facing when DGS is in it but if it's staying in my car when I'm not transporting him I leave it forward facing as it's easier for visibility when I pull out of junctions, it's behind the passenger seat and hard to see past it to check for traffic approaching from the left.

My gripes are that it doesn't recline as much as the handbook suggests; the harness has loops to hook the shoulder straps out of the way and they're hard to locate in the dark (some seats evidently have magnets, which I think must be easier); the padded crotch strap sticks up so the child sits on it when placed in the seat and I have to rummage under him to free it so I can fasten the harness; I think it sits a lot higher than DD's Maxi Cosi Pearl, which is a seat with a separate Isofix base (doesn't swivel to face the door).

If you child is tall and I assume so if they have nearly out grown their baby seat then you will need to get a car seat that rear faces until 25kg.

Have you taken all the inserts out of your current seat?

Passthepigs · 25/01/2019 07:42

@Yourwinter they are all my gripes with the 360 too!

I find that if it lengthen the straps to the longest as I get him out and put over the sides I don’t need to use the hooks to keep them out of the way.

The seat buckle I tend to lift him up and over it when putting in so he isn’t sat on it, but it’s hard to do with a heavier child.

I find the recline really good though.

We have the Joise 360 and we love it. We would recommend it to anyone looking.
