Kids getting outside.

What are your opinions on schools letting kids outside at break time and lunchtimes, even on days that its raining or very cold etc?

My daughter said she is all outside on these sorts of days as long as they have jackets on and fastened plus hoods up or a hat on. I thought to myself, "good on the school" because I don't believe being out in the cold will harm a child, as long as they are dressed appropriately for the weather conditions.

My ds nursery has a saying “there’s no such thing as bad weather just bad clothing” or something along these lines and I love it! Ds is happiest outside no matter what the weather , as am I. As long as they are dressed appropriately I think kids need to be out as much as possible

Minus or plus 40? Maybe I'd be concerned. But British weather isn't going to kill you at anytime of year.

Mine needs run like a puppy. More fool the school if they don't chuck them out.

We're not in Uk. Here the dc play out at school in all weathers, thick snow etc. They play out automatically until it hits -20 then they do a risk assessment. If there is not too high a wind chill they still play out to about -25. The dc love it and there doesn't seem to be a particularly high prevalence of illness, if anything I would say they are healthier for all the fresh air!

My daughters class did get told to fasten up their jackets before going out, which, again I agree with :).
