Remarriage acceptance from older children

Apologies if I’ve posted this in the wrong place. I’m new to this. I have 3 children (10, 7 and 4). I separated from their father 4 yrs ago and have been in a relationship for 3 yrs. My current relationship is poles apart from my marriage in that we’re affectionate and loving and happy. My marriage wasn’t bad but there was no love or affection shown. My children have a fabulous relationship with both their father and my partner

Sorry posted too soon.. My partner and I want to marry but my oldest child is struggling with this so we’ve been repeatedly putting it off. I’ve spoken to him about it and his only concern appears to be around the potential failure of the marriage and going through the same thing again (divorce). I understand that and we’re being sympathetic to it but I’m struggling to find a way to talk to him that makes him understand

Explain to him that we can't put things off that make us happy because something bad might happen? For example we can't book a holiday because we might get the flu and miss out? Or if you had a pet we couldn't have got Snuffles because she might run away one day.

Maybe there us a book someone could suggest that could help him understand? Ask your local librarian.

Pointing out the differences in the two relationships might also help as well as saying that if anything did happen then you'd still be there for him.
