9 month olds hands/arms trembling

Hello everyone!

I am back with yet another worry :(

My almost 9 month old boy’s hands and arms tremble sometimes. It usually occurs when he is reaching for something or trying to balance himself after he has pulled to stand. It also happens sometimes if he’s really trying to concentrate on something like getting a piece of banana to his mouth. It’s like a fine tremor. It’s hard to notice if you don’t look closely but he’s definitely trembling at these times. I will add that it usually stops if I touch his arm or hand. Anyone else experience this? I’m worried it is something neurological. It’s not a seizure. Could it still be his immature nervous system developing at 9 months or is that too old for that explanation? I guess I’m just wondering if any of your little ones do this as well? I appreciate any experiences/knowledge you’d like to share. I am definitely going to be ringing the doctor about it as well but just wanted to know if/hoping it can be normal. Thanks, ladies!

Is your baby otherwise well and developing normally?

Video it, take it to the GP.

No idea what it might be but a video will show exactly what is happening, rather then the GP trying to work it out from a description.

I have a fine tremor, my dd has a fine tremor and quite a few people do. In our case it is nothing to worry about..it just is a tremor. However, I would speak to your GP just so they can rule out anything else.

GenevaMaybe, he seems to be!

reallyanotherone, I have tried to get it on video but you can’t really see the trembling in it :( I’m hoping they will be able to see it for themselves when I take him in.

Unescorted, thank you so much for sharing. I am definitely planning on letting my GP know!

There are more of us shaky people than others realise. From the attitude of my GP and friends who are GPs they all seem relaxed about it. The only time it causes a problem is when I am carrying cups and saucers or when others assume it is caused by nerves or DTs / too much caffeine.

@Winstonxo how is your lo? Wondering if the trembling resolved?
