Hi all
I’ve ordered fenugreek tablets which i’ve Received. I would like to increase my breast milk supply and would like to have some recommendations.
I’ve been YouTubing videos about this but the ones I’ve come across are American. They swear by Oatmeal, and I’m going over my head- are oats the same as oatmeal and do they have the same affect?
Also what is the one thing that you swear by that increases your milk supply?

Eating well, drink lots and feeding.

Can I ask why do you think your supply needs increasing?

There is a medication you can get from your GP if they will prescribe it. Inhad reduced supply after spesis. I was told no but I know some who was given it when there little was tube feed in hospital so they had a gap in feeding.

Oats! I went dairy free while bf as my DD has a cows milk allergy and switched to oat milk - noticeable difference.

Oatmeal is porridge oats!

Make sure you’re eating plenty protein, well hydrated and as much rest and skin to skin as possible.

I did a combo of oats, red bush tea, power pumping and fenugreek tabs (though they can affect fertility). I personally didn't find the tablets helped by power pumping was useful along with making sure lo was always offerer boob first even when i felt empty and always drained both sides.

Oh and as others have said: hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!

Pumping usually works because your body always produces more milk when it realises the breasts are empty. I nursed from one breast and when I was fairly certain she had enough, I would pump the other. Or I would pump both breasts if she’s napping and I know it’ll be at least 1-2 hrs before she wakes up to give the milk time to “recharge”.

However be careful as having an oversupply can be just as bad as you will need to drain your breasts more often than baby can nurse. Not doing so can lead to engorgement or mastitis. I had a trial and error phase where I ended up with an overactive supply with forceful let down and often caused baby to choke on milk :(.
