Sensory room, just for special needs and autism?

I was thinking of getting sensory items like changing disco lights, lava lamps etc to occupy my baby but am I going OTT?

I googled it and it seems like it’s good for autism and special needs. I don’t have any worries that my baby has signs yet...it’s just he’s fascinated by the TV so thought it’s get him looking at other things.

Is it necessary? Shall I just stick to going to a sensory class instead and leave it as that?

Thank you

I have bought. Is it too much for my 4 month year old?

Won't do anyharm would stimulate your baby i wouldn't go full room but a few things why not. When dd was at nursery they had a sensory room the children seemed to enjoy it .

I wouldn't over think it. Twinkly lights are nice to have, just make sure they're safe for little ones - lava lamps are fragile and can get quite hot.

I got a disco ball light for my little one and she loved it as a chill out for short periods of time until she was about 14 months then it seemed to over stimulate her and we’ve not used it since. She’s 2 now so may try again.

My cousin world's a special needs school. When her son was born (book special needs as far as we know), she got him some sensory toys and they were his favourites. I'm going to be asking for her recommendations when mine gets here.

Sorry, that should have said that she works in a special needs school. And no special needs, not book special needs. Stupid autocorrect!
