Tonsillitis and vomiting

4yo dd has been poorly for 4 days with high temps, not eating and sore throat. Today is the first day she's had spots on her tonsils. Dr prescribed antibiotics and I've been giving calpol/ ibuprofen for temperature. She's been very lethargic today and upset.

Just before her appointment she was sick which I'm guessing is due to temp. She was sick again after her first dose of antibiotics and a dose of calprofe. Any recommendations for how to get the medication in? Do I give her the antibiotics again as she was sick within 15 mins of having a dose? How do I manage really high temps when she's not keeping the ibuprofen down? She had calpol earlier but she's still 39.5

Hopefully you have found someone to advise
Questions like this get picked up better in chat or Children's Health.
My DS was sometimes sick when he had tonsillitis. The antibiotics are in and will have started working so if he's sick after 15 minutes we were told not to repeat the dose. If he was sick almost straight away we were told to wait a while then give the dose again.
As for pain relief and fever there are two.methods to go for calpol and ibuprofen together 4 times a day or a more frequent but less strong intake of ibuprofen 2 hours later calpol 3 hours later ibuprofen 3 hours later calpol then ibuprofen this can be tweaked but speak to a dr or pharmacist
Depending on the antibiotic it can take a while to work but he needs to keep chewing and drinking
Crisps are better than ice cream but less appealing
Ds had smoothies a lot Actimel and a banana blended were tolerable.

Thanks for your reply. She was sick all night and couldn't even tolerate water. I ended up giving her calpol 1ml at a time over about 2 hours. As long as she had a temp she wouldn't stop bringing everything up.

She's now managed to eat a couple of small snacks, drink and take her antibiotics and is seeming a bit brighter for it. Fingers crossed she's on the mend. I'm avoiding ibuprofen for now as calpol seems to be doing the trick.
