What wipes did you use for newborn or did you use cotton wool & water?

Water wipes are good.

Thesnobbymiddleclassone · 13/01/2019 21:41

I just used normal Wipes from Morrisons from day 1

katienana · 13/01/2019 21:42

Cotton wool, they were quite discouraging of wipes in hospital. I used cotton wool up to 6 weeks then went to wipes. I used wipes out of the house though.

I used washable wipes for all of mine, couldn’t stand the thought of throwing away all those disposable wipes! I used Cheeky Wipes.

MissYeti · 13/01/2019 21:43

I used cotton pads and water in the hospital then moved to asda sensitive wipes after a week. DS' bum has been fine on the wipes.

GlennRheeismyfavourite · 13/01/2019 21:43

I thought I'd use wipes from day 1 and used water wipes but her skin got pink and looked sore with them and the minute I switched to water and cotton wool she was fine. I used cotton wool and water at home (and water wipes in the change bag) until she was 8 months.

We used mini muslin cloths and water. Cotton wool and water initially but cotton wool is a nightmare when it gets on the carpet and the muslin clothes were easier all round.

DameSylvieKrin · 13/01/2019 21:44

Cheeky wipes, a natural sponge and water, and water wipes

TheJunctionBaby · 13/01/2019 21:45

I've always used water and cotton wool for all of mine for the first few months, then I switch to water wipes (or most natural equivalent pre waterwipes)

bellajay · 13/01/2019 21:45

Water Wipes and some Johnson’s extra sensitive ones (much preferred the latter). No one in the hospital seemed bothered what we were using to be honest and we were there for three days after the birth. We switched to reusable ones once we were home and had got into the swing of things a bit.

Willow4987 · 13/01/2019 21:46

I used cotton wool and water for about 4 weeks and then used Johnson’s extra sensitive wipes (still do)

Aria2015 · 13/01/2019 21:46

Water wipes - I used them as soon as I came home and then would pat his bum dry with a muslin cloth.

KarenDarling · 13/01/2019 21:47

In SCBU we had to use either water wipes or cotton wool / water.

pigletpie2177 · 13/01/2019 21:47

Cheeky wipes are great. Mine are still going strong and he's nearly 2.

1sttimeunicorn · 13/01/2019 21:48

Johnsons sensitive were great. I remember getting the wipes out in the hospital and waiting for the midwives to come and tell me to use cotton wool, but they didn't. Honestly couldn't imagine cleaning baby poo with cotton wool.

Dermymc · 13/01/2019 21:52

Cheeky wipes. So much better at cleaning poo than baby wipes which kind of smear it everywhere.

Do you just use them with water?

Dermymc · 13/01/2019 22:31

Cheeky wipes? Yes. You can put essential oils in the mix if you want but I tend to wet as I go. Some people make a box of them up so they are easier to get to.

Wallsbangers · 14/01/2019 08:42

Aldi sensitive wipes. I thought everyone just used wipes from the off now (either wet wipes or reusable)

Tilliebean · 14/01/2019 10:14

I used water wipes for the first week or so, then started using the sensitive ASDA ones left over from DD1. I think around a month old I switched to Cheeky Wipes whilst at home. Total game changer. So easy and much better at cleaning DD2. I love that it reduces waste too. I still use the sensitive ASDA ones when out and about.

Lindtnotlint · 14/01/2019 10:17

Cotton wool with first baby. Water wipes with the others!

KirstieandPhil · 14/01/2019 10:22

I used water-wipes in hospital then reusables at home. Just be aware with water-wipes that they are incredibly wet and you need to thoroughly dry the babies bum. They also go off quickly due to lack of preservatives so don't buy too many in one go.

I use tesco own brand out and about.

wombatsears · 14/01/2019 10:37

Water wipes are expensive. Cotton wool and water is a faff at 3am. Aldi do extra sensitive wipes similar to water wipes but MUCH cheaper. DD has been fine with these.
